Huge fan of theirs. Rich in colour and love the texture on the lips

This lip liner blows my mind! It's truly smudge-proof, which is very rare - it doesn't bleed when you eat or drink. The colour stays put for hours, as it is water-resistant.

Another nifty invention: the pencil is self-sharpening. The tip is sharpened every time you twist off the cap, allowing for precise application. It took me a while to figure this out though...

The colour is high-impact enough to wear the liner on its own under lip balm, but this would look great under most dark shades and would give them a rich, bluish undertone. Definitely a worthwhile purchase!

I got to try out these products at a Smashbox event and I was really blown away be the quality of these!! I just wish they were more affordable.

The Smashbox lip lacquers have been all the hype and i really wanted it !!! Thank you so much Beauty Bulletin for this amazing product. I received the Be Legendary Long-wear lip lacquer in LEGENDARY . It is a lovely vibrant red color and at first i was abit hesitant because I'm more of a nude shade kinda girl but after trying it out I felt like kicking myself for not trying out vibrant and bold shades of lipsticks and lip glosses.

It applies on so smoothly and I really love the velvety yet creamy texture of the lacquer. The applicator wand wand makes it so easy to apply and you only need one coat, yip you heard right just one swipe of the applicator wand is all it took to cover my lips with this really vibrant shade. I loved that it didn't feel heavy on my lips and i didn't have to reapply it as often compared to other lipsticks and lip glosses i have used in the past. I am totally addicted to this product and i will definately get the rest of the shades available in this range.

I received the Be Legendary lip gloss in Disco Rose, long-wear lip lacquer in Legendary, and the Always Sharp lip liner in Ruby.

For someone like me who hardly ever wears anything on my lips, the Be Legendary lip gloss in Disco Rose is a perfect introduction. It’s just the right amount of colour for a natural every-day look, the consistency is really good and it isn't sticky at all. Also, it's incredibly lightweight so you pretty much forget you're wearing anything at all - perfect for a no-fuss makeup update!

For the lip lacquer I first lined and filled using the Always Sharp liner – which might I add is a pretty nifty invention and makes application super accurate – and popped the lip lacquer on top. I was kinda terrified of so much colour compared to my usual bare lips but as it turns out the lip lacquer was my favourite part! I fell in love with the rich colour which really complimented my skin tone, and found the consistency to be crazy good. The colour stayed put for most of the day although it lost it's glossy shine after an hour or so, but the stain is equally lovely. Yay’s all around, basically.

Overall -
I thought the prices were on point for these products. The quality felt very high and I would definitely repurchase these products, I'm also very excited to try out the deep berry shades!

The Smashbox Be Legendary Lipgloss range will truly blow your mind. With 15 different shades to choose from you will be in lipgloss heaven! I tried this lipgloss in what I thought was a rather different colour than what I usually wear, in a shade called gingerly. From the clear packaging, I could tell this lipgloss had a slight shimmer too.

I have used this lipgloss a number of times now and I think this colour is great! It is not as orange when you apply it to your lips and it can be worn on its own to add slight colour and gloss or it can be worn over one of the Smashbox lipsticks for a prominent lip look. This lipgloss is relatively long lasting, is non-stick and feels comfortable and airy on my lips! My other Smashbox Be Legendary fave lipgloss shade is Vivid Violet...I sense an addiction coming on.

Another fabulous product in the post making its way to my doorstep? Awesome!

Smashbox Always Sharp Lipliner in Crimson
I totally love the colour that I received. The fact that it self-sharpens is absolutely amazing. The glide is seamless,the texture smooth and you can be certain that your lip lacquer or lipstick won't "weep or run away with you". Great product indeed.

Smashbox Be Legendary Lipgloss in Disco Rose
Totally loved the colour because it goes with almost any lipstick in my make up bag. The shimmer,the emerald shine,brilliant. It isn't sticky at all and definitely doesn't "weigh the lips down". The smell is gorgeous and makes my lips feel velvety smooth,hydrated,moisturised and thoroughly loved.

Smashbox Be Legendary Long-wear Lip lacquer in Firecracker
This product I liked the least. The colour us very unnatural,it literally screams attention! It definitely would have looked much better on some one else with a different complexion than mine. It also stains the lips,which I did not like. I think that if it was a more suitable colour to my skin tone, I would not mind the stain that stays on for quite a while. It is really moisturising though and the smell is not bad at all.

All in all,i would buy Smashbox products for their high quality and effectiveness. Thank you,Smashbox.

I was super excited to try the new Smashbox lip goodies Beauty Bulletin has sent me.
I received the Always sharp lip liner in the color "Nude dark", the Be Legendary lip gloss in "Sugar Cane" and the long wear lip lacquer in the color "After Dark".

Smashbox Be Legendary Lip Liner.

I personally don't like the color that was sent to me. It's a dark brown lip liner and although I have a fair complexion, I tried it and I love the fact that it's self sharpening. Big bonus for me!
The lip liner goes on very comfortably, has a creamy texture and it keeps lipstick from bleeding.
I would definitely buy but this time in a light nude color.


Smashbox Be Legendary Lip gloss.

I love this lip gloss. The color is a shimmery brown. It looks natural on my fair skin tone. Usually I hate lip glosses, because it's always sticky and my hair always clings to it. But with this one I sometimes forget that I have something on my lips. It's not sticky at all and leaves my lips moisturized.
I would definitely buy. I love the color and it has a pleasant smell.

Smashbox Be Legendary Lip Lacquer.

I received this lip lacquer in After dark. I won't be buying this one anytime soon. I don't prefer this specific color. It's a dark plum color and I'm not used to something so dark but I gave it a try anyway. It really is moisturizing. Definitely have to agree on that one.
But what I don't like is that it leaves a stain on your lips and that stain is long wearing.
The lip lacquer I have, gave too much color payoff, so I had to blot my lips with a tissue for it to look for more natural.



Overall I really love Smashbox cosmetics. I believe It's high quality. This is my first time using it and I will definitely consider the rest of the line.

I have already done a video review for my Smashbox lippy products, but for those of you who don't have access to watch videos at work or even at home. Here's my written review:

Smashbox Be Legendary Lipgloss in Pout. I usually don't like lipgloss because it has that sticky feeling on your lips and doesn't last very long. Also, every time the wind blows my hair onto my lipgloss, my lipgloss lands up all over my face and hair. Not so Legendary. But this lipgloss is nice for when you're not outdoors in the wind as it leaves a silky smooth glass-like textures and its not sticky at all.

Smashbox Be Legendary Long-Wear Lip Lacquer in Coral

This wee pot of loveliness has a wet consistency but a creamy texture goes on velvety smooth and has a moisturising feel. Once the top layer and shiny finish wears off (about an hour after application) lips are left with an even stain of colour. It hydrates and compared to other long wearing lipsticks it doesn't feel patchy or drying.

And it doesn't stick to my hair so I don't get lipgloss residue all over my cheeks and hair. Booyah! Bonus!

Here's a Tip: Wear the lipliner with the lip lacquer. I think because it has a spongy applicator so you tend to slather it on. It tends to feather and bleed into the wee lines around your mouth! So remember to use lip liner with this product.

The packaging for both the lip gloss and lip lacquer are not that impressive. For something that's supposed to be "Legendary", the plastic feels cheap. The matt top picks up loads of dust, crumbs and fluff (which every woman has at the bottom of yer handbag) and starts to look shabby. I do love the chevron stripes though!

Smashbox Always Sharp Lip Liner in Nude Light

The Twist off top lip liner is lovely! It glides on easily and prevents the lip lacquer bleeding into your little lines around your mouth.

A long-wearing, water resistant lip liner that self-sharpens every time you twist the cap off. Neat wee trick!

Price: R230

Great products, but a wee bit too pricey for me. I will buy the lip lacquer again, though. My hair doesn't stick to this lip lacquer. Big plus!

Video Review

So when I opened my unexpected parcel and saw 3 Smashbox products staring at me I was DELIGHTED and the biggest smile literally swept across my face! Thank you BB.

I am going to firstly start with the Smashbox Always sharp Lip Liner, the colour I received was “Figgy” which is a gorgeous rich Red shade. Even though you cannot see the sharpener this nifty pencil is conveniently self –sharpening everytime the cap is twisted off. Yes ladies! No more scrambling threw makeup draws looking for that tiny sharpener! Upon applying the consistency of the pencil was soft and sculpted the lips effortlessly. I have a thinner top lip so I used the beauty trick of accentuating my cupid’s bow to create a look of fullness. My first step to achieving the perfect pout was a success! The lip liner comes in 16 amazing shades, and works perfectly fine to use the liner to fill in the lips to create a Matte effect.
Conclusion, The lip liner did indeed prevent feathering and bleeding and is long wearing and I cannot wait to get my hands on a nude shade for that everyday look.
Awesome! What more could a girl ask for?!

Smashbox Lip Lacquer in Bordeaux, this was one of the products I was hesitant about the actual colour. The shade is a reddish brown which does not work well with my complexion. Never the less I wanted to give the actual product a rating. One coat was enough for my lips, the colour was vibrant and intense with a glossy finish. It felt weightless and comfortable and was not at all sticky, after a few hours I noticed that the glossiness had worn off yet the colour stained my lips which lasted for most of the day. A touch up is required to keep that vibrant eye catching look.

I was so impressed with the full colour and lasting properties of Smashbox Lacquer that I took a peek online for the shades available, boasting 20 GORGEOUS shades I am super eager for a little self spoiling at the end of the month!

So for the final product, Smashbox Be Legendary Lip gloss in “Disco Rose”, I saved my favourite for last ? Being a lipgloss junkie I have tried tons of lip glosses, and I am hardly ever impressed due to the formula being too sticky or tacky or the colour transferring onto my teeth, let alone to just be able to find that perfect vibrant colour. Welcome to my life Smashbox Be Legendary lipgloss! Personally I love the “Disco Rose” shade, it suited my complexion and provided a polished shine look which made me gloat confidence! And again the shades available are irresistible.
The applicator is flat and broad which allowed for quick precise application and the shade matched with the “Figgy” Lipliner perfectly. The texture of the lipgloss was not sticky nor tacky which allowed for a comfortable wear. As with most lip glosses a touch up is required to maintain the shine.
The Lipliner and gloss have become part of my essentials list and go with me everywhere!

Final conclusion: the quality of the Smashbox products I received exceeded my expectations and you get what you are paying for. Would I be purchasing these products in the near future? Most Definitely! #smashboxfan

Lip Gloss

Of the three items, this is the one that didn’t appeal to me as much. Reason being, after using the lip lacquer, there is no going back. Why compete with 5 hours of high pigmented glossy goodness? I got mine in the shade Coquette which was a bit of a change up. I challenged myself to wearing bright and vibrant colours, this season, but this gloss came in handy when I wanted to tone it down. The pinkish hue reminds me of bubblegum! It is the ideal shade for everyday, and a subtle colour to pair with a beautiful smokey eye at night. I was quite impressed by how silky smooth the consistency is – I dislike gooey, over glossy lip products. There isn’t much pigment but you can definitely build it up! This is the perfect companion to your handbag, to brighten up and touch up, throughout the day.

Lip Liner

Lip liner is back and oh-so trendy! If you’re a newbie to lips, like me, you’re probably thinking that you can skip out on the lip liner and go straight to the lippies. But you’ll quickly learn how essential these babies are. Lip liners are vital for 3 main reasons: they extend the longevity, prevent feathering and enhances lip shape. The always sharp lip liner from Smashbox fulfils its promises of always being ready to line your lips with its nifty ‘twist the cap’ feature. That’s right, you need to twist the cap to open it, which ensures that the liner is at just the right level of sharpness before use. I got mine in the shade Fuchsia. Unlike previous liners that I have used, Smashbox’s offers a smooth glide, over the lip, highly pigmented and long lasting effect. I love using mine with bright, vibrant colours to create my own hues for well-defined, kissable lips.


Lip Lacquer

This has got to be my favourite of the three products sent. The Lip Laquers come in 20 different shades that range from lilac and milky all the way to rich and deep burgundies, mine was in the shade Flamingo. I want them all! The Lip Lacquers offer a long wearing and highly pigmented coverage, which has moisturising properties which include vitamin E and avocado oil. When compared to other products, I would say they are very similar to a glossy stain or liquid lipstick. Just like most, the glossiness wears off around 2,5 hours after application but the colour stains and offers a very highly pigmented lip for a long lasting time (10am-3pm = FIVE HOURS!) that is while drinking and eating in-between, and if that isn’t enough, combine it with the fabulous lip liner, and get a full 8 hour coverage. I have found that with most lip stains, they have a drying effect that makes your lips all gooey and soft, while you’re wearing it but once it has worn off, you feel that you need some sort of intensive treatment to restore and hydrate your lips. However, these little gems offer a unique formula which restores and nourishes lips, so even if you already have cracked lips, these will help in treating the condition. There is no denying that there is a lip lacquer for every girl, and you NEED just 1 or 2… or all 20!

I was sent the Smashbox Be Legendary lip products to review and couldn't have been more excited - what a fantastic product to be chosen to review!

I had been looking into using lipliner more often and was really happy that one came along in my package of Smashbox goodies - the whole idea of lining and colouring in your lips with a matching lipliner is genius as your lipstick/lipgloss will last SO much longer, and I hate the pesky reapplication process.

The colours I was sent were absolutely gorgeous: -

I received the lipliner in a lovely peachy orangey coral colour, absolutely spot on for spring/summer. The colour pigmentation is fantastic and suited my complexion to a T! I've tried using it just to line my lips and also to colour them in, and this ensured that the gloss in a matching colour definitely stayed put for longer! I adore the self sharpening aspect of the pencil, although I do find myself repeatedly trying to just pull of the cap, rather than twist it. So so lovely to have a nice sharp tip each time I use the liner again - why does this not come as a standard feature of every single lipliner/eyeliner???

The lip lacquer was in a matching shade to the liner, and also really did my complexion justice. It lasted really long and wasn't sticky, but instead very smooth and moisturising, and went on so smoothly.

The lip gloss looked gold in the tube, which was slightly off putting but once you apply it it's more of a neutral shimmery gloss - goes well by itself or applied over other lip products and colours. In the box it gave you a tip to apply it to the middle of your bottom lip to make lips look plumper - I tried this and wow but it definitely works!

Both glosses had a lovely sweet scent to them too - not in a cheap tacky, kiddies gloss kind of way, it was very subtle, but it made applying them a pleasure.

Overall, I liked all three of my products. While they're fantastic and I'd love to buy them again, they were a little pricey for my budget to make into regular purchases, but maybe as a treat to myself (or a gift from others *wink wink*)!

In all three products I especially loved the easy sweep of colour with a long lasting sparkling shine. My lips felt nourished and well moistened. The product has a divine smell and doesn't leave you with an odd taste in your mouth as many lip products do. Even after the product completely wears off (which takes some time) you are still left with a lovely colour stain on your lips. Prices are ever slightly above average but you really do not need to use a lot which would allow the product to last longer, should you take care in keeping the product clean.

This is what I especially loved in each product:

{Lip Liner}
This lip liner is in such a gorgeous hue that can even be used full coverage as a lipstick. The always sharp feature is a complete win!

{Lip Lacquer}
What I love about this lip lacquer is that you need only use a drop for full lip coverage. Only downside is that although you don’t need a lot of product you do really have to rub lips together a few times for the colour to appear evenly spread. This is fine for home application but not for when you need to reapply in public without a mirror.

{Lip gloss}
The lip gloss was my favourite out of all three. It’s perfect to use on its own or over a lipstick. Its packaged in a pretty bottle with a very convenient sponge tip applicator that ensures a quick, smooth and even application.

Tip: Use the lip liner with the lip gloss as I found this combo works fantastically!

I was totally over the moon to be selected as part of the Smashbox Be Legendary lip collection review club. Let me just start by saying that the packaging of all the items I received was oh so stylish, yet practical and cute!
I received:
1. Smashbox Be Legendary Lip Gloss in Illume. It looks like a gold shade in the tube, but when applied is a neutral gloss with just enough shimmer and sparkle, so can definitely be used during the day with or without the lip liner to complete a natural look with just a hint of glam. What I love about it though, is that you can put it over any shade of lippy you are using and it transforms it into glam with one stroke of that rabbit foot style wand. I am totally addicted! It goes over EVERY lipstick I use now and I use it even when I am not wearing make-up. It is not sticky at all, though you can feel you have something on your lips it is very light and not uncomfortable. LOVE LOVE LOVE MWAH
2. Smashbox Always Sharp Lip Liner in Nude Light. This is the perfect lip liner in every sense. First of all, you have just got to love the fact that the built in sharpener sharpens the tip every time you twist off the lid, so your lips are always perfectly defined and it prevents your lipstick from bleeding into fine lines too - bonus!This lip liner goes the distance and lasts ALL day. I also like to use it as a lip stain by just filling in my lips as well and then sweeping over the Illume lip gloss for some added brilliance. The shade is perfect for all lipsticks.

3.Smashbox Be Legendary Long-Wear Lip Lacquer in Off-Duty, this is a peachy shade which goes very well with my fair complexion. I love how it feels so creamy on my lips yet never feels heavy or greasy that I just want to grab the nearest tissue and wipe it off. Its completely comfortable and weightless to wear and conditions the lips beautifully, as its formulated with Vitamin E and avocado oil. The colour is perfect for day and night and is perfectly partnered by the lip liner. In the evening, I like to add a swipe of the Illume lip gloss for a bit of extra shimmer and glamour. This lip lacquer goes the distance and although the shine fades a little, you can still see colour throughout the day, despite eating and drinking. If you want to add a bit more shine during the day, go ahead and whip that gorgeous tube out of your handbag! It will make your friends green with lip envy! Smashbox Be Legendary lip products are a definite lust have!!

I was so so so excited when I found out I was one of the 15 lucky ladies to review this incredible range of lip products from Smashbox. I even did a jumping dance at the office when I saw the email from Beauty Bulletin.

First of all, I am a pout type of lady. I like being adventurous with my lips and they are actually one of my favorite parts in my body. I like wearing bright and different colors and I am up for anything really, except for black.

I need to say that these products are truly amazing!!!I received the Always sharp lip liner in “violet”, which makes our lives so much easier as every time you twist to open the lip liner your eyes meet perfectly sharpened tip! It does a great job on giving shape to your lips and preventing the lipstick or lip gloss to smudge out of the lines. The colour violet blends well with darker shades of lip colour as well as nudes.

The second product I received was the Lip Lacquer also in “violet”, which compliments the lip line colour. Oh boy the plum colour is so amazing! It promises to live up to 8 hours and so far I cannot complain. I love how vivid the colour is and enjoyed playing around with it.

The third product I received was a Lip gloss in the colour "Sugar Cane", which is a goldish brown colour that goes well on top of any tone. If used on it's on give a nice glossy shine to the lips without being overpowering.

Spring season is my favourite to experiment with colours and I am in make-up heaven when I am using Smashbox lip products. My lips look well defined and sexy.

Smashbox long wear lip laquer in orange crush!lip gloss in illume and always sharp lipliner in rosebud.
firstly i have a small mouth with thin lips and so bright colours even neutrals are not my go to colours for confidence!
I hide behind brown pinks and deep wines
So naturally i flipped a little receiving these colours
But for a special evening out i decided to experiment!
To really be out there n wear and enjoy these gorgeous lip products!
Its well known that people with thin lips like me can and should wear bright colours and even nudes!
I lined my lips in rosebud always sharp lip liner which never needs sharpening!each time you twist thd cap off guess what a perfectly sharpened tip and for me and my thin lips the major plus is no feathering or bleeding!i wore Yardley plumberry on top which is a longwear albeit dry lipstick and topped it off with smashboxes non drying non sticky long wearing lacquer in orange crush!
The overall effect i felt was absolutely stunning! A bold lip which really took centre stage on my face n made me look and feel absolutely confident and amazing!
For a day to day look rosebud lipliner and illume lipgloss which has full on shine without stickiness and feels lightweight and gorgeous!
