This translucent powder was the first kind I ever bought as I found my foundation faded after not wearing it too long. Knowing Essence and having bought a few products from their range I thought I would give it a try as they are affordable and their quality is usually good for the money you spending.
About the product itself, I honestly love the packaging as I find I can actually BAKE and using my beauty blender it fits perfectly. The texture is definitely NOT as finely milled as I would have liked it to be; it was slightly rough. When looking for Translucent powders I look for a suede texture.
About the wear: The purpose of it is to set well which done its job, however, being warm olive toned it did not blend well into my foundation it left a white residue which is bad for dark skinned girls. Even when spraying a facial mist the excess rolled off. The flashback was BAD and after wearing it for a few hours it mad my skin dry and cakey with creases in my foundation.
I would say this is a no no for dark skinned girls but it would be worth it for those of lighter skinned.

I am always looking for a newer and better translucent powder and I have been using the Essence one for about 4 months now.
It does the job of removing any shiny spots and keeps it that way for a long time.
The only downfall to me is the way it feels on my skin.
I feel as though I cannot touch my face - its just an all round odd and sandy-like feel on my skin.

I don't usually use fixing powders as I have dry skin, so I initially bought this product before going to Thailand on honeymoon in order to help combat the effects of the intense humidity there. I was pleasantly surprised by how effective it was when it came to setting my makeup and keeping my face looking matte during my travels.
When I have used it for other occasions (e.g. baking undereye concealer, etc) it has worked effectively for me as I have pale/light skin, however, I have found that it makes dry areas even dryer, especially in the colder months. For that reason, I avoid using it in winter and prefer to use it in summer.
Pros:
- Lightweight and works well on pale skin
- Great for travelling
- Affordable

- Makes dry skin dryer
- Container is messy
- May not appear translucent on warmer/darker skin tones

I love Essence products as they are usually spot on with their formulation (and price point), this however disappointed me.
The powder is not finely milled enough and made my combination skin uber dry. It also leaves a white cast when used for baking under the eye.

I recently started baking my under eyes on occasion to ensure my concealer stays perfectly in place all day. It is also great for keeping fall out from eyeshadow application sinking into your concealer/foundation. I didn't want to buy something expensive as I am literally going to brush it all off after finishing my eye look. So I got the most affordable option available and I must say I have been loving it.
The product is super fine and lightweight and does not leave my under eyes looking cakey! It brightens up my under eye immensely and brushes away with ease. It is super affordable so I can keep baking and repurchasing forever. It does not leave a weird white powder on my skin as well. One thing though, the container is extremely messy and you need to tap a lot of the product into the lid to get proper application. Upon closing the product, it will be all oveer your hands.
Other than that I am happy with what I paid for and it works for baking.

I bought this mostly out of curiosity and it's price- since the powder was almost a hundred rand cheaper than other loose translucent powders on the market. I was skeptical at first but now i'm pleasantly surprised. the powder is quite fine and doesn't leave my make up looking overly chalky or fluffy which is what some powders tend to do.
Whilst i have used better powders, that were almost 5 times the price of this, I can say i recommend this to anyone who wants to set their foundation and concealer whilst on a budget.
just be careful when opening it the first time- there is a sticker over the holes to keep the powder in and when removing it to use the product for the first time it does fling product into the air and a bit everywhere!

As a professional makeup artist by weekends and an office based person by week days, makeup and looking flawless for long hours is a norm for me. It's tough and rough on my skin and my routines take a lashing, But on the upside....
I must say through warmer days my face oils up especially on my T-zone or my makeup looks blotchy in those areas and needs setting by 2pm. I have been using the essence translucent powder for just over a month, and their formula for their translucent powder seems to do wonders with my make-up for daily use.
The make-up sets and looks flawless and does not blotch on hot days. I found that it sets my makeup leaving it with a matte finish and does not cake on my face or clog my pores. I do refresh my face with a hydrating spray to keep the makeup fresh and intact.
It is affordable and works well with my kryolan dermo-color foundation, for the price I would recommend it to anyone else who wants a daily translucent powder. Although I do tend to use my splurge products for my big events and occasions the setting and finishing is just different.

This is an Essence product I will continue to purchase. It's a must-have make up item especially for someone like me. I am in Theatre, and when I am on stage, the harsh stage lights can lead to me sweating, which inevitably leads to sweat and making my make-up run. But using my Essence Translucent Powder has solved all my problems.
It absorbs sweat and removes shine, which leaves my face with a beautiful matte finish.
It's great value for money compared to the bigger brands like MAC, but it doesn't last as long. One tub, used regularly will last you about two months.

I am a devoted supporter of Essence products. I think I've owned probably every product they've ever made but unfortunately, this product is one of the most disappointing products in the Essence range.
I applied it after I applied my foundation to help set the foundation as well as give it a matte finish. After applying it I noticed that my skin felt dry and when I looked in the mirror it has formulated dry patches all over my face and I'm talking PATCHES. When I patted the dry areas with my fingers to see if the heat dissolves it a bit, it felt like I had chalk all over my face.
I continue using Essence products because I love them so much but I would rather stay clear of this one.
I hope this helps someone out there!

So I have been using this Essence translucent fixing Powder for almost 2 months, and I must say, I am quite impressed!
What attracted me to this product was the price of course! Essence is well known for their super affordable products but in the past I was never a huge fan of theirs. Especially face products such as powders and foundations.
This product retails fro R89.95 at Clicks or Dischem Pharmacies and it is well worth the money, simply because the packaging is really good quality, and a bit goes a long way!
The product does have a built in sift to prevent spilling of the powder, I must say though that this doesn't work as well as the more high end products however, you are paying R89.95, so like I said, don't have high expectations of small things like the built in sift.
The actual powder though is really good. You can use it to set your foundation and it works really well with the Essence Stay All Day 16h Foundation and I have tried it with the Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation as well.
I tried baking with it as well, and it works wonders and what I love even more about this powder is that it doesn't leave a white film over your makeup, but instead leaves your powdered area completely matte, and it is long wearing as well!

If you're not looking to spend a lot of gwap on a translucent powder then look no further. The powder is fine and very light weight. I can barely feel it on my skin even after a layer of foundation and concealer.
I was worried that I would look ashy but to my surprise it blended well with the rest of my make up. After spritzing my setting spray, my look all comes together and everything looks like it's in place.
I use it to set my concealer when using it as a highlighter under my eyes. This also know as baking, I believe.
I also use it to touch up my make up later in the day when I feel I'm getting a bit too shiny. I first blot, then dust on some of the powder on with a powder brush... I prefer it because I don't end up looking cakey for the rest of the day if I need my makeup to take me into the night.
It's not really user friendly especially when you want to use a beauty blender or a blending sponge to bake with. Every time I open it I end up with the white powder all over me :( so I need to make sure I'm close to a basin in case I need to clean up some spillage.

I did not really like this product. It does dry my skin, but it feels very chaulky and it feels like the powder sticks to my face all day... it also makes my skin feel like sandpaper.
I love how it absorbs all the excess oil, but that's about it.
The container has a sift lid so you don't have too much product on the one side, but that really doesn't work, the product spills through. It also tends to be too much product on the brush, even after you tap the excess off. I've spilled the product a couple of times.

However, it is cumbersome to apply as the product tends to spill when opening. It is not suitable for travelling- best applied over a sink to minimise mess. It is not completely transparent and thus may not be the best for darker skin tones. If you are heavy handed, it can collect on creases and laugh lines. Lastly, there is slight flashback when taking photos.
All in all, a good product for those with very oily skin. Great value for money and it stays all day. But for those looking to purely set make up, It would be worthwhile considering another product.

I have oily skin so this product definitely helped with blotting out shiny T-Zones. Unfortunately, it is very messy and isn't convenient to carry around as it requires the use of a brush and the powder very easily falls out of the tub when opened. It's great to use at home and I do use it every morning after I apply my makeup to hold it in place - although I still feel a makeup fixing spray it much easier to use and this product is better for just removing excess oil.

This is a very fine white power that plays over your skin as you apply it and got a weightless feel to it. I have to say, I wouldn't have minded if the container was a little bigger since I use this everyday. But for R 72 you get a full 11 g of product and other that Catrice which is a few rand more expensive its by far the best price you will get for any powder in this category.
The quality is great as with all the other Essence product and I use this only on the parts of my face where I have done some highlighting, because its got a white glow to it it leaves those areas fixed and flawless looking. Although it might not work as well for people with darker complexions since it might be to white on their skin.
I have to admit you will never find me without this product since I can use it in so many ways.

This is a really good product considering the price. If you plan on using it to "bake" under your eyes, keep in mind that it doesn't stop creasing completely.
It works well for me because I have very pale sing, but I think that it might leave some white residue after brushing off the excess powder if you have darker skin.

I bought this in the hopes of using it to bake under my eyes.
Unfortunately on me it leaves a white caste, and I have pretty pale skin to begin with, so it's not a true translucent powder.

If you are a fan of the all matte look then this beauty is for you. essence Cosmetics have released a variety of matte products from concealers to foundations to matte primers. They have ended the matte makeup look by the creation of a matte translucent powder to ensure that there is not an oily spot in sight.

I initially used this product to bake under my eyes which partially worked out for me. Unfortunately, the white undertone does not look good on me and I need something that is more yellow like the infamous Ben Nye Banana Powder. If you are a fair to medium skin tone then tap yourself on the shoulder because you just got the most affordable product to bake with.
I initially tried using a large powder brush but I prefer using a damp beauty blender to apply this as a setting powder wherever I have concealed. There are no harsh lines or creasing and this product applies easily.
This product is excellent for drying up your T-zone if you trouble with a really oily T-zone. If you have oily skin then this product will be your best friend! The best part about this product is the fact that it has no flashback.

I have been on the market looking for a translucent powder for setting my make-up I just prefer translucent to coloured skin tones powders which I feel can be heavy on my skin.
The Essence Stay All day translucent Fixing powder, the main reason for getting the powder was I needed a new powder to try and this caught my eye once I saw the new product release. The powder comes in a loose form which wont be hard on my brushes, and it comes in a compact jar great for throwing into handbag in a rush.
First application it instantly made my skin Matt which I like in any setting powder it applied really easily to skin and just enough of the powder is let from those tiny holes in the jar. I tend to lean towards translucent powders as no matching is needed and they feel to be much lighter on my skin. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a translucent powder

OMG yes! This powder is the bomb in terms of finish. It is so lightweight and gives such a healthy glow to the skin. It has very subtle reflects, so it works great for during the day or evening.
It does not add any extra coverage and will therefore not change the colour of your foundation. It is great for touching up, because it is so finely milled and does not cake up at all.
For a product that is this affordable, the performance is quite amazing. It is not great for controlling oil, but I am okay with that. The more I apply, the better my skin looks.
I can definitely recommend this product and I will definitely keep repurchasing.
11.10.2016 - UPDATE: This still remains my go-to affordable setting powder. I have noticed that when applied with a damp sponge to set foundation and then going over lightly with a colour powder - this product controls oil extremely well! When first applied, it can give a white cast, but just be patient and give it some time to settle and set - you will notice that it just blends in perfectly.
It does not add any extra coverage and will therefore not change the colour of your foundation. It is great for touching up, because it is so finely milled and does not cake up at all.
