I bought the Stila Color Balm Lipstick in Gemma amongst some other products from Kalahari. It retails for R255 but got it for R127.50 on the Big Mama Sale, great price. The color is great, it is a pink-violet color and it looks amazing. When I first saw it it just looked purple to me and thought I chose a bad color for me but when I tried it I saw it looks amazing. It smells of peppermint so it feels refreshing.

Ever since the Stila Color Balm Lipsticks hit our stores I have been wanting one all because the packaging is simply amazing! I love the metal tube and the knockout Stila logo in the cap. The packaging makes the whole experience of applying lipstick so glamorous and special.

The reason why this is called a Color Balm Lipstick is because it a lipstick that has the benefits of a lip balm. The pigmentation of all the lipsticks I tried out in the store were all very good and all of them had a wonderful peppermint scent to them. I was so taken with the Nude Pink (Gabrielle) that I just had to get it.

The lipstick has a beautifully smooth and creamy consistency that glides on easily. The colour also lasts incredibly well. This is not meant to be a lip tint or lip stain so I did not at all expect this lipstick to last all that long. I have been very pleasantly surprised by this. The lipstick contains peppermint oil that causes a minty, tingling sensation on your lips and makes them feel refreshed. The tip of the cap has a shiny, reflective surface that acts as a mirror that definitely comes in handy.

I simply adore wearing this lipstick.

I chose 3 of these Colour Balm Lipsticks when I won the Stila No Mirror Makeup Challenge. The colors were
Gabrielle (Nude Pink)
Betsey (Fuchsia)
Amelia (pink taupe)
As you can see, I chose a variety of pinks because I always looks for a very flushed color when I apply lip balms. I prefer natural colors with a hint of color. What I love most about these balms are that they are build able. One swipe and you have a slightly tinted lip but had another two swipes and you have a rich and pigmented lip.
Betsey is a very bright pink in the tube but can look very sheer on the lips. Gabrielle and Amelia are very similar in color but Gabrielle is more nude and Amelia is more pink. They both look very natural on your lips. Even when you apply a few layers, it still looks very natural.
These lipsticks are incredibly moisturizing while still being functional .A lot of balms are clear while these have quite a bit of color.
This bam also contains peppermint. It smells and tastes like peppermint. I have friends that absolutely love this. They steal my balms all the time. Personally, I am not a fan of mint in general so I do not like this. A plus for me though is that the smell disappears after a while.
The packaging is clever too. The word Stila is cut out of the canister and you can see what color lipstick you are reaching for. You do not need to look at the bottom of the lipstick for the name. There is also a mirror on the top of the canister which comes in handy.

This is the first Stila Lipstick that I've used and I have to say - I'm pretty impressed. The colour payoff is amazing - Betsey is an intense hot pink - and once on, the colour stays put for an admirably long time. Even once the glossy finish fades, you are left with a pretty stain of colour on your lips.
As the name says, this product is also a balm - it is lovely and moisturising, and has a wonderful minty smell thanks to the soothing peppermint oil in the product.
The packaging is also pretty cool - the metal tube is sturdy and has a good quality feel. The name "stila" is punched out to reveal the colour of the product - perfect to find the right one in your collection quickly! Cleverly, the top of the lid is also a mirror, so you can reapply anywhere, anytime.
The only thing that I didn't really like about this product is that the tube of lipstick is a bit too broad, especially considering that it comes with a barely angled surface. With the intensity of the colour and it's tendency to stain, getting the perfect application on my thin lips took a bit of practice.
