to be honest i do not use Bio oil for the scar lightening benefit... purely because i believe that prevention is better than cure. Bio oil is an item i will always have in my cupboard, and is part of my pamper regime. i use an epilator to remove leg hairs, and after removal and a quick cool rinse i apply a very thin layer of Bio Oil (yes i epilate at night). i have tried other brands, but i love the light texture and pleasant smell of Bio Oil the best.
my favorite use however is after a night out where i have had to use 'going out' makeup, i cleanse and exfoliate and use approximately 1 drop warmed by rubbing hands together and patting on face, calms the skin down beautifully AND my skin in the morning has no tell tale signs of the night before.
Having just given birth to the worlds most amazing little boy, I have been left with a beautiful "road map to motherhood" all over my tummy and hips. They look like angry hot red lines removing all sexiness I may have once had. My sister in law suggested Bio Oil- which in 3 weeks has reduced my red scars to s slighly pink tinge instead. Stressful situations lead to bad eating habits or maybe comfort eating... well, that was what occurred in my case :( My rapid weight-gain over the year 2016 left me with horrible-looking stretch marks on my already huge 'love-handles'. They did not look like 'normal' stretch marks (whatever normal looks like lol) they looked like finger prints, red finger prints, ugly red finger prints, ugly red finger prints that I hated and yes, I wanted them to disappear. Anyway, I've always heard about people raving about Bio-Oil. A few years ago, it was the 'IT' thing; something you needed to have an something you aspired to have and indeed, when I was very young, I am glad my mom offered to buy me a bottle. Hence, it has been something that I have using 'on and off' during my teen years, but because those 'finger -prints' weren't that bad back then, Bio-Oil was not part of my daily-skin regime. Fast-forwarding to 2016, when I developed the 'finger prints'- in the year 2017,, I whipped out my 125 ml bottle that I bought about 2 years back and applying it religiously, twice a day; every morning and every night- I DO SEE RESULTS AND THAT IT WHAT REALLY GETS ME EXCITED ABOUT B.O! My red 'finger-prints' are now lightly-brown in colour and being an olive-toned woman that means it's working wonders. I know that soon the product will work, but as so many reviewers said, It is not something that happens overnight; you have to be consistent, you have to get excited about taking care of your body... I love bath AND shower times as it entails a wonderful regime of lotions, oils and face wash. This is my body - it's not perfect; it's lumpy and bumpy, but I love going to lengths to make it look good and smell good! So I would definitely recommend this product to everyone - IT'S WORTH IT
I've been using this since my teenage years. Its reduced the appearance of my stretch marks over the years. This product is effective and I think, affordable, because it lasts long. I used this during my pregnancy, on my belly and its almost 2 years of use, I can see my belly stretch marks are lighter! The longer you use it, the better the results. I always add a few drops to my body lotion (something Bio-oil should think about creating too) and its reduced the appearance of scars as well.
I have used Bio-oil for years - put it in my bath, on scars and on overly dry skin. I used to love this product but changed to Justines version a few months back as I was told it worked better on scars. I was really happy when I received a bottle of Bio-oil from the Beauty Bulletin team , it was like reuniting with an old friend. I've been using it again for 3 weeks now, also applying it twice a day to my fiance's chin ( he has an old scar from a childhood accident and even though he had plastic surgery on it - it's still there, not huge but rather like a small zorro sign + it's kinda sexy ) and putting it in my bath and on my few scars. My skin is smoother and softer but the scars haven't faded that much - but then again you need to use it for awhile to really achieve proper results from the scars. I picked up a bio-oil leaflet at the hospital last week ( dropped off a neighbour who needed her appendix taken out -long story, such a sweet girl ) and read through all 18 pages with info. After having my daughter I have loads of strech marks! Using bio-oil twice a day has made such a big difference in the apperance of these monsters! The only product I use for my strech marks.
I use the Bio Oil for my uneven skin tone and saw results which was such a relief for me as it has been bothering me for such a long time. I add some to the bath to soften my skin too.
Bio Oil is one of those products I have a love hate relationship with. I have a few scars from when I was little and someone recommended I try bio-oil. I found that it worked slightly if you used it over time. Maybe like for a year straight. It is also not a miracle product. I used it consistently for a year and my scars did not go away. It just looked a bit better. If you are not going to use it all the time, you will not see results. I like putting a little bio oil in my bath water when my skin feels incredibly dry. It is the best moisturizer I could ask for. It also smells nice so you don't have to worry about your skin smelling like chemicals or anything odd.
Been using bio oil for years now and it never fails to impress. When all other products fail me,I have often counted on bio oil to keep my skin hydrated, beautifully scented and maintain my even tone. Love it!
Had a few scars and applied Bio Oil to it. I must say that you do notice a difference when it is used but teh effects are not long lasting and you have to keep on using the product to see the difference.
Bio oil is a personal favorite of mine and I often use it to supplement my daily body lotion and moisturizer. It manages to make skin look and feel supple with the added bonus of a great fragrance. The 200 ml bottle lasts a couple of months so it is cost effective. My only problem is that it takes time for scars and stretch marks to disappear. It's a bit frustrating because one often gets tempted to think that the product doesn't work. Otherwise, with a little bit of patience spanning over a couple of months, scars and stretch marks will gradually fade.
I've started using Bio Oil to lighten some scars from a previous operation. It smells nice...a bit oily when you first put it on, But makes my skin feel soft. It's easily absorbed and a little oil goes a long way.
I bought a 200ml bottle for an old scar on my thigh. The bottle is almost gone and I haven't noticed any change in the appearance of the scar. I will buy another bottle and keep applying throughout the winter season to see if there will be any change. However, I started applying Bio Oil on a new scar and that mark has disappeared. I also used the oil as a moisturiser every evening on my face and that has worked out great. I noticed that the marks I had on my face have disappeared. I will definitely continue using it as a moisturiser every night during the winter season. I have come to the conclusion that Bio Oil works faster on fresh scars & marks whilst older scars and stretch marks require prolonged use for a more noticeable improvement in their appearance. The 200ml bottle goes a long way.
I have been using Bio-Oil for many years to improve the appearance of stretch marks and many an old scar. However the other day when I was playing with my puppy I was left with quite a long and nasty scratch on my leg. As it was healing I realised how dry the area was and that it was going to leave a scar. I started using Bio-Oil as soon as it was safe to do so (no more open wound) and I immediately saw an improvement in my skin’s condition where I had applied Bio-Oil. The mark has greatly diminished and soon it will be completely gone. Bio-Oil not only improves the condition of the skin leaving it more hydrated and supple it also has a lovely fragrance. A couple of drops added to a warm bath after a long day relaxes mind and body.
while bio oil is great for moisturising skin it definitely did not make a difference to my scars or marks even with continued use i saw no difference. overall its an okay product
Sorry to say but i don't know why everybody is raving about Bio Oil, 3 bottles so far and money down the drain, so i have decided to bin in and rather use other products, have to say Nurjehan there's nothing wrong with your skin, it's the product believe me it did nothing for me so i won't repurchase these products again
I remember many times when bio oil was like a song in my ears as most women would advise about its benefits....I could not afford it then and I then I made a plan to add it to my regime > I needed to set myself free from the prison of scars!
I set the journey on fire with my enthusiasm and then that first bottle (sparingly as I used it), ran out. My stretch marks did not disappear like I was hyped to believe but the surely were lighter and my skin softer. I then believed to continue with the product by buying my second bottle and then the third and so on and so on that now I lost count....this believe was created by my thinking that my first bottle was not used by me long enough to allow it to be effective. Then from the second bottle when I did not see the results I wanted, I then believed it was because my scars being old. Somehow I really really wanted to see what others have seen - that miracle!
I am grateful that my stretch marks are better looking and my skin is lighter as well as softer. I am still faithfully using it because maybe I will finally see what I want to as years go by and I do hope it will stop the stretch marks I already have right there!
I found out that I am one of many ...one of those who is still waiting faithfully. Our expectations should be realistic, this is the truth I have had to learn. For the amount of money paid for this "rescue" mission, I am not very much happy after its all applied and done. I feel it could be a inexpensive especially seeing that many products on the market that produce the same results, are available as options.
I tried the Bio Oil, but it didnt work for me and neither of my scars went lighter. I do believe it could be my skin tone, or something to do with my skin, as it works perfectly fine for my sister.
I found that when using the bio oil on the smaller marks on my face, the spot where I apply the tissue oil, it burnt my skin. Perhaps it could've been a little too sensitive for this product.
i too used it for a year to get rid of my scar and it did not do anything to remove it. i do however find it is great to moisurize dry skin but as for scars it does not live up to its promise
Unfortunately Im one of the few Bio-Oil does not work on! I was very disappointed after using the product for more than 6 months and scars did not fade! I felt like I had just been buying an expensive boby lotion:(
