The Art of Kissing- Lipsticks That Won’t Tell!

She slid the fiery red lipstick on her lips and smacked them together a few times. Carefully parting her lips, she placed a piece of tissue paper in between them and lightly blotted them. Then grabbing the tube of clear gloss, she smoothed it over her red lips leaving them glittering. She glanced out her window and saw him walking up to the door. She smiled to herself as she put the tube of gloss in her tiny handbag…

Reapplying lipstick every few hours is probably the bane of every lipstick wearing and loving woman. It’s annoying how, in your mind, you have got the perfect lip – red, glossy and just well, AMAZING! In reality though, the bite you had of that bagel took all the amazingness away! This is a guide on tips and tricks that will undoubtedly help you make that lipstick last longer. After all, a lady never kisses and tells, so her lipstick shouldn’t either!

First things first, you have to make sure your lips are smooth and clean. You can do this by exfoliating. Simply brush your lips with a kiddies brush using circular motions.

Next, you have to base your lips. This is easily done by using a concealer or applying your foundation on your lips as well.

Thereafter, all you have to do is line your lips with a lip liner that matches the colour of your lipstick or a nude lip liner.

That being said, you can apply more than one layer of colour. Just be sure to blot your lips with tissue paper in between applications.

Then there are lip brushes. This isn’t the most time-efficient way of applying lipstick, but it definitely is a way of ensuring solid coverage of your lips. So, on a day when you aren’t rushing to get to work, use a good quality lip brush to just carefully ‘paint’ your lips!

That being said, you need a good long-lasting lipstick. There are a number of long wear lipsticks out there. Here are my top 3 picks:

1.Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay In Place Lip- Duo
This product is dual-ended; it has colour at one end and a gloss at the other. You apply the colour first, wait for it to dry (which takes about a minute or so), then you apply the gloss. The great thing is that you won’t have to reapply the colour. You’ll only need to apply the gloss every now and then.

2.Shiseido Lacquer Lip Rouge
The beauty about this lipstick is that it comes in a liquid form with an applicator. So, you can really apply it easily. The colour is very rich, and once applied, it actually dries but it doesn’t look dry. Your lips still feel moisturized and look glossy but the colour doesn’t smudge or wipe off easily.

3.MAC Pro Longwear Lip Colour
This lipstick is also dual-ended. Apply the colour, then the gloss. What I love about it is that not only does it last, but the colour remains rich and glossy.

So ladies, do yourselves a favour and follow this guide. Re-applying lipstick will never be on your makeup to-do list again!
