Kiehl's Dermatologist Solutions Hydro-Plumping Retexturing Serum Concentrate

The bottle looks tiny but a little bit of this goes a loooong way. One pump worth of this product is enough for my entire face and neck. I used this as part of my 28 day challenge and I think this might have been my favourite product because of how quickly I noticed the change on my skin. Its scent is neutral which I like and its texture is jelly-like and was absorbed quickly by my skin. I also applied it on my lips in the morning and evening, which did wonders for my normally very dry and cracked lips. I got a bit lazy after the challenge and didn't use it for a day and I could already see my lips reverting to the dry look - not good! So I've quickly put it back into my routine. It's a bit pricey but don't let that scare you, it's worth every rand.

The Kiehl’s Hydro-Plumping Serum is an absolute winner! It comes in a lovely pump dispenser, which is easy to use. With a soft velvety texture, it spreads easily as you apply onto your face and is super absorbent too.
My skin has responded quite well to the Hydro-Plumping serum, and my face feels well hydrated and is definitely looking plump.

My skin has a love/hate relationship with moisturizers. Although my skin is usually dry, most moisturizers break me out when I start using them. Well, the Hydro-Plumping Re-texturizing Serum Concentrate was the perfect answer to my problematic skin. It's an ultra hydrating serum that is light but packs a punch.

A little goes a long way because of the glycerin content, so 2 pumps is more than enough product for your whole face. The first thing I noticed after trying the product for 1 week was that my skin felt and looked smoother, and my makeup looked better on my skin. The peeling around my nose from the weather also came to a screeching halt. It's a great product and I keep a bottle on my nightstand and one in my gym bag. I very rarely leave home without it!

This had quite a different texture to what I am used to – quite a “silicon” feeling similar to a primer which made make-up application smoother.

I noticed the fine lines on my face were less obvious and my skin felt softer initially but after using this product for a week I found that this texture was almost too “dry” for my super dry skin and didn’t offer enough moisture for me.

I love the pump bottle which prevents air and sunlight from spoiling the contents. The main ingredient in this serum is glycerin which attracts water to the surface of the skin and helps maintain the skin barrier.

Do you ever realize that even if you have diligently applied anti-ageing creams and lotions on your skin to help achieve a youthful looking skin, your skin still appears dull and tired looking? Well, its probably due to “age related dehydration” ARD in short (because we love to sound like experts). It's a condition that many Dermatologists are recently identifying as one of the key contributors to the appearance of aging skin.

Age-Related dehydration is caused by an imbalance of moisture within the skin that occurs as we age, making skin more prone to showing signs of aging sooner. I started having this skin concern several months ago but didn’t realize it was due to ARD.

So to address itI sought to try out Kiehl’s Hydro-Plumping Re-Texturizing Serum Concentrate. The formula in this product is said to help correct the signs of ARD by “flooding” the deepest surface layers of dehydrated skin to restore vital moisture. When skin is hydrated, it will appear more fresh, plump and youthful.

Inspired by Dermatologist who really really care about us :) the serum is formulated with a potent complex of plant-based Glycerin – a natural “moisture magnet” and Shiso Leaf Extract which helps protects the ‘anchoring’ of deep moisture into the skin’s surface layers. Bonus! As many of us know that the technology behind almost all topical products only work as far as the top layer of the skin which in most cases is never enough to bring optimum results. The extract also helps protects against the degradation of the skin’s natural Hyaluronic Acid - (expert alert)

To achieve significant hydration and penetration results, that effectively address ARD, Kiehl’s chemists chose to formulate without waxes, eliminating any barriers, to ensure a more bioavailable preparation when applied on the skin. Second, the formula was developed with an internal water phase that is larger than the external phase to impart an incredibly lightweight texture that ‘bursts’ on application. This internal water phase, which carries the key ingredients – plant-based Glycerin and Shiso Leaf – comprises 85% of the emulsion. On one of my weekly reviews I made mention of the water residue visible upon application. This is the science behind. I had to find it out. It sounds like a lab report but its knowledge is power.

Moving on to information I didn't have to Google.

Its unscented, smooth velvety texture, easily absorbed and extremely hydrating. I love that it acts as an excellent primer. So if you're a primer user, you can enjoy an added benefit with this product. However for this, I'd strongly advise that you start out with a sample first as foundations differ in formulation.

A well formulated serum I have to say and with no alcohol in it, any chances of skin sensitivity were narrowed from zero to none. On one of my weekly updates I mentioned how previously to achieve the same glowy, dewy morning after results, I’d have to guzzle down a litre of water at night time, all in one go. Now with just 2/3 pumps applied on my skin I get the same results in just a few hours.

Definitely a fave, and bravo to the experts behind it.

This serum is a winner! The gel-like formula comes from a pump action bottle, with a light white colour and is odourless.

Just two pumps that spreads generously and easily over your face and that's all you need! It is absorbed quickly and easily into the skin, and is not oily or greasy.

Results are immediate - with first use you can feel your skin getting much-needed hydration. It makes you feel plumped up and supple quite quickly, and within the first couple of weeks I noticed an improvement in my fine lines and crow's feet.

The bottle is quite large, so I think it will last a long time. It's a must have from now on for me.

The packaging of this serum is a white box that has a blue lining on the top and bottom. When you open on the inside, you get a white 50ml plastic bottle that comes with a pump.

With your first pump you get an, off white almost gel like product that is very lighty fragranced.You just need 2-3pumps to apply to your face and decollette area. The minute you apply the serum you skin can feel the difference because it feels smoother afterward and as you apply its just feels like your skin is drinking water, if that makes sense, but thats how it felt like to me! My skin was smoother and the fine lines and texture was much better than it was before. I think that this serum came at the right time in winter because my skin was dry and was also very dehydrated!

This was my favorite of three products i received to review.
This product comes in a plastic bottle with pump dispenser( I used 2 pumps at a time). Light fragrance not overpowering . Easily absorbed in to my skin. No oily residue was left behind.

On usage on the first day, i already felt the difference in my skin. My skin has never felt so hydrated and amazing. On continuous usage, my fine lines around my eyes appear to be disappearing.

I would love to use this product forever as its really amazing. A bit pricey but so worth every cent. Highly recommended to all.

I can only rave about this super serum from Kiehls which promises to add an injection of much needed moisture into your skin. I have combination skin which tends to be dehydrated most of the time no matter how much water I drink! I believe that your skin in a canvas and you should invest in that canvas first and foremost before anything else. Living in Durban which tends to be humid most of the year means that I stay clear of heavy moisturisers.the texture of this serum is really great and used both day and night has given my parched skin a much needed boost of moisture. The packaging is great and is handy for travelling too. A little goes a long way with this serum and the added glycerine contained in the serum, hydrates my skin perfectly. I have found that after 30 days during Winter, my skin is looking moisturised, plump and healthy. The fine lines around my mouth area have started to fill out and my skin is feeling like silk! Yes, this serum is expensive but a little goes a long way and this serum has performed better than most moisturisers that I have used in the past. My skin aka my canvas is looking amazing and makeup glides on like velvet. I have found that I can skip a primer when I use this serum as my skin looks amazing. I cannot wait to use this serum during Summer. With the refreshing texture and gorgeous sensation, this serum is my must have skincare item!

At first when I started using this product I noticed the smell..a bit too chemical for my liking...
I like the bottle in comes in, and the pump dispenser, means that i can control exactly how much I want to use, and not waste any of the concentrate.
It goes on smooth and easily, so not a lot of rubbing required.
The reason why I love this product so much is that it did wonders for my skin. My skin started feeling soft and healthy, a few days into using it. Patches around my eyes have regained its elasticity and do not look dull. I have a healthy glow, and the bonus is that the tiny small lines around my eye area have drastically diminished.
I have always had issues with products making my skin burn or ending up with it just not even working but it was not the case with the concentrate.

You also get a a nice amount of product for the price, which means you will be able to use it for long!

This serum was my favourite of the three Kiehl's serums which I tested for the 28-day #ChangeYourSkin Challenge. I saw results from this within the first few days of using it. I also loved the pump dispenser which makes it easy to use and keeps the serum airtight and hygienic. This serum is formulated to suit all skin types. It is light and watery on application (with little to no scent) and absorbs quickly without leaving any greasiness on the skin.

What this serum does best is fight dehydration. Even though my skin was combination to oily when I started using it, it was also very dehydrated. The first week I used it I did experience a slight stinging but this went away over time. My skin has felt hydrated and plumped up, my fine lines around my eyes are much less visible and my skin texture is smoother and softer. I also feel that I need far less moisturiser after applying this serum, and don't get any dry patches during the day even when wearing a very matte makeup.

There was nothing about this serum that I didn't love, so I give it five stars for effectiveness and quality. And I would gladly repurchase it when it runs out. The price isn't in the same range as affordable drugstore brands, but it is in line with serums from many other department store brands, and I think it is good value for money.

This has been one of my most favourite Kiehl's serums. Especially in winter, there is just no way one can go wrong with extra hydration. It comes in an opaque pump bottle and one pump is just the right amount of product to cover a full face. The product is immediately absorbed into the skin and leave no residue. Leaves the skin feeling supple and plumped out.

Hydro-Plumping Re-Texturizing Serum Concentrate (that’s a mouthful) is in a pump-action bottle and the serum is an off white colour that has the texture of glycerine. It is smooth and easily absorbed and leaves your skin feel tingly and cool. I use two full pumps and I’m in LOVE!

It has made such a difference to the texture of my skin and my dryness all but gone – and its winter.

I adore the packaging. It is clean and gives the impression of less is more, you know, good quality. Timelessly classic!

The smell of the product is fragrance-free so there is no strong odour, which I’m super happy about, because I detest high perfumed facial products. I can only describe the Kiehl products as Clean-Smelling.

R675 for 50ml is pretty well-priced for a Serum actually. This little bottle goes a long way.
