I decided to try this product out a few months ago, and bought it purely because of the low price and because I really love Essence items! I found mine at Pharmacy City.

I got the stick in 01 Matt Sand, which I think is the lightest shade*
I was disappointed as the lightest shade was too dark for me. I have quite pale/porcelain skin, and it didn't work very well for my skin tone.

The consistency is smooth yet quite thick, but it applies quite easily with your fingertips (The heat from your fingers melts it down slightly and helps it to blend*)

The coverage is quite good for a stick, and I feel it would work quite well along with a colour corrector*

I do like this product, and would recommend it, however, I am personally not a fan as their lightest shade is too dark*

When i received the new cover stick by essence, i was actually really excited - when i opened it, i loved the texture, and the versatility of it. Its an easy on the go kind of product. But when i applied it to my skin - i didn't quite feel as if it works for me. On the areas that i applied it, it felt dry, and it didn't give off a natural matte look. I was a bit dissapointed.

Lately this has become such an obsession for me . With the cold harsh weather daily it has definitely affected my skin and caused a lot of breakouts and marks on my face .
This has become apart of my everyday routine as it blend seamlessly into my skin and blends out with my foundation hiding just about every mark .

The product looks almost like a lipstick and has a creamy texture which is so easy to blend . It gives me a smooth flawless finish .

Towards the end of the day it does tend to fade away but I did notice when i set my make up with a setting spray it lasts a bit longer .

I am not going to lie, I am not a fan of stick concealers. I just find them thick and heavy and a nightmare to blend. That all changed when I met the essence Coverstick.

essence as many of you know released a new range of beauty products specifically formulated for women of colour. This range has been trending on social media with the tag, #LoveYourShade.

I tried out the essence coverstick for a few weeks and here are my thoughts.

I tried that shade matt caramel, which is shade number 50. When I first speared it onto my fingers I was surprised at how creamy and smooth the consistency of the stick was. Since it is a stick formula I thought it would be best to avoid my eye area and try and conceal my dark spots around my lips, nose and on my cheeks.

I added a bit of product to my troubled areas and I was able to blend it in easily using the warmth from my fingers. I love beauty sponges and beauty bullets but I honestly just prefer using my fingers when blending in my concealer. Once blended it provided a light coverage that settled into a matte finish. I was quite impressed with how easy it was to blend it and I decided to build up the coverage in certain areas that were darker than others.

An important point to note is the fact that this concealer contains Allantoin in the ingredients list. Allantoin is used to ensure that the concealer is an anti-irritant as well as being a skin protector, This is particularly good for those with sensitive skin or acne prone skin.

My favourite part about this product is the fact that it is dermatologically tested as well as animal cruelty-free! Well done essence on still maintaining such an impressive status.

The design of this product was done in a manner to resemble a lipstick. This is excellent for travelling, which is why I keep it in my handbag to use as my everyday touch up concealer.

This coverstick used to be my favourite concealer. At first, it was great as it matched my skin tone and covered up dark spots and blemishes. I used to use it under my foundation to decrease the amount of foundation I used.

It is quite creamy in texture and applies well. It also blends quite well, especially when used with a beauty blender. Recently, however, I do not use it because it's too dark for my skin tone (my skin tone lightened in recent months).

When it is first applied, it is great. After a while, it starts to become a lot more orangey. If you have large pores, this may not be the best option and pores definitely show after applying this product. It also creased and settled into the fine lines under my eyes. After a couple of hours, I would have to 'wipe' my undereye area because it creased so much. So I suggest using a really good setting powder after application.

This may work for someone else - perhaps with a darker skin tone or a different skin type (I have oily skin). However, it's a good product for the price and provides really good coverage.
