Dark and Lovely Au Naturale Afro Moisturising Hair Butter

Love it , definitely recommend, I grew up using dark and lovely and I had high expectations and these expectations were definitely met. I’ve been using it since it dropped. I use it in my LCO method as C on wash days and as a daily moisturizer when I need moisture mid week . Amazing absolutely love it

I have 4C hair and I had an issue with dry hair. This moisturizer has helped my hair so much, it instantly feels soft and makes styling my hair so much easier.

I use this hair butter as my C in the LOC method. It does a great job of sealing in the moisture for a couple of days. I am so happy I came across this product because the price is so reasonable in comparison to competing natural hair brands.

This is also good for 4C low porosity hair. Give it a try.

I gave this a try on dry hair like the instructions say and I couldn't believe how moisturizing it was. Even my hands felt really moisturized after applying it to my hair. This is perfect for my low po hair as it doesn't take forever to dry and it leaves it super moisturised! I found a keeper..

I have been using this product for a week now and my hair really loves it. I use it as a daily moisturizer because i have really dry hair. thank you dark and lovely for this amazing products.

I used this throughout the week between washes whenever my hair started feeling a little dry and gritty (I avoid washing my hair more than twice a week).

The product on its own is really thick and hard to spread throughout my curls, so I wet my hands before dipping them into the product which created a much better consistency.
It helps with detangling and when applying it to wet hair, keeps your curls tight.

If you're looking for an affordable hair moisturizer I would recommend this product to you. It's definitely worth it, and you can make it last, as one use is enough to last for 2 to 3 days.

In all honesty, this product has a terrible smell. It really put me off especially after using the shampoo and conditioner which smelled amazing!

I applied the moisturizing butter generously to my hair.. I tried it on both wet and dry patches. I don't like the smell it reminds me of relaxers, but I like the texture and the feeling. The product says apply to dry hair but I preferred when I applied it to wet. I found that it butchered my natural curl when I applied it to dry hair, and I don't like that frizzy straight-ish look, I like my coils to stay tight.

I felt as though it was too thick for a moisturizer but I was pleasantly surprised when it moisturized my hair and actually made it damp and ready for a seal in with an oil.

One problem I had with the product is I did not know how to use it and in which part of my hair regimen, therefore, I used it as a leave-in-conditioner.

This is definitely one of my favourite products in the range.

I loved the thickness of the product especially because I have really thick hair.

I mixed this with a little water, and the knot out conditioner and this was my go to during my routine.

This is my favourite product out of the whole range mostly because it's not too oily (as all products are free of mineral oils, petroleum and parabens). It moisturizes my hair without leaving an oily residue but at the same time gives my hair a soft and luster finish.

This product also didn’t manage to wow me. It has a pretty thick consistency and it also had the tendency to leave a little bit of residue on first application but once you've worked it into the hair it leaves none. It did a pretty good job at moisturising and softening my hair while giving it a healthy, moisturized look. I really liked this product although I sometimes felt it to be a bit too heavy on my hair.

Overall:
I've never used a moisturizing butter, but I've always wanted to and the Dark and Lovely Au Naturale Afro Moisturising Hair Butter is EVERYTHING!

Feel and consistency:
Like all the products in the range it smells amazing. It feels like, pudding and is pretty thick.

After use and effectiveness:
I loved this product because it made my hair sooo much easier to manage, detangle and comb. My fro was soft but not greasy or oily looking. The product does absorb quite quickly and the moisture doesn't last as long as I'd hoped (but that could be my particular hair type)

Best Part....
You don't need to apply it everyday...If you're stretching you rands here is quick trick I learnt. Apply the product the day or night before, style and do what you need, the next day spritz with some water and you get the same effect for about two three days.

I am not an avid user of moisturizing butters in my hair regimen as I look for a sealant that does not have water as the first ingredient and usually only moisturise my hair on wash days however this product is effective for those days when your hair is really lacking in moisture and needs a bit of a pick me up. Remember to always seal the moisture with an oil of your choice for a long lasting effect

I don't make much use of moisturizing hair butters, i would usually just use Argan or Moroccan oil to give my hair back the oils and moisture its lost from adding blonde highlights into my hair. With that being said, i have to admit, this is by far my favorite product from the Au Naturale range, my hair has never looked better. My curls are bouncy, looks rich and is so soft to the touch. The butter is quickly absorbed into the hair and makes combing it through an absolute breeze.

The Butter is an easy absorbing conditioning butter for ready-to-go nourished styling.

This is the star of the show for me.
I don't know what they put in there but my hair is loving it!!

It is very thick, immediately softens your hair and makes combing a breeze. You don't even need to wet your hair for this to be effective. It absorbs very quickly and is perfect for daily use. My hair remains soft till the next day. It's also perfect as the L (mixed with water) or C to your L.O.C method.

Overall this is a great product it gets 9/10 from me and I totally recommend it to everyone!!

My daily moisturizing routine starts of with a lovely spraying of my hair. I spray my hair twice a day with a water-infused mixture of mineral water and an oil/leave-in conditioner so when I read the instructions that this has to be used on dry hair, I was disappointed and a little confused.

If this was to become a my go-to range for my wash-day, what would happen in the interim after I wash and condition my hair? Would I have to wait for my hair to air dry to moisturize it? It does not make sense to me. Being the rebel that I am,I used it straight after spritzing my hair with my water mixture and began applying the butter throughout my hair. I did not enjoy the smell, it has a detergent like smell and my hair looked sticky rather than moisturized.

Probably works differently on hair that's dry so I will try it again… but on dry hair this time. Although through the Research and Development stage, Dark and Lovely should have noted and been aware that ethnic hair needs tons of moisture which is mainly water. To create a product that is recommended after shampooing and conditioning, it does not make sense to wait for hair to dry to moisturize it?

Maybe the Plaiting Pudding Cream is for after conditioning and the Afro Butter is for use after such time as you've wash and dried your hair then just as a moisturizing agent? I'm not sure.

I'll have to swop my routine around a bit and note if their is any changes.

Apart from the conditioner, I'd say that this product definitely exceeded my expectations. I normally to my flexi rod sets and finding out what products work best, so this worked in my favour. The product is slightly thick, leaving me to first add some water and then applying the product. Once my hair was dry and I was ready to take out the rods my hair was bouncy and soft, totally unexpected. Definitely a must have!

This is probably my favourite product from the range. This butter has no mango oil smell which is a bit sad but it smells okay. It’s very creamy and buttery and when I applied it to my scalp I expected it to leave a greasy residue but it didn’t. My scalp and growth soaked up the product (it absorbs really quickly) and I’ve been using it for a while and there’s no product build up. I’m excited to try this out on my hair as part of the “C” in the LOC method. This will definitely become a staple in my hair routine.

This is a great product but it leaves an unpleasant smell the day after using it

I don’t often do twist outs/ braid-outs with styling creams, I prefer moisturizing when I do these even if it means some frizz. This is my new staple because it is meant for moisturizing but held my twist out with great shine and definition. I never thought my twist out could be this defined, so much winning at life- at least until I tried to separate it and frizzed it up, blame my useless styling skills. Still, my hair was very soft and nourished 4 days after wash day, so no complaints here :)
Dark & Lovely has finally given naturals a chance to eat meat again- good quality products at affordable prices (just get rid of the sulphates #oncemore #pettywap). The products in the range are versatile, and you can use them to suit your preferred routine.

I have been using the Dark and Lovely Au Naturale Fro Moisturising Butter for about five days now- I use it every morning after undoing my bantu knots to soften and detangle my hair before I style it. I am highly impressed by this product, my hair is the softest it has ever been and doesn't tangle like it used to do. For the first time I'm not fighting with my hair every morning! I can't stop touching my hair and find myself asking my family and friends to touch it because I cannot believe how soft and hydrated it feels. Great product overall.

I am in love with this butter gets absorbed quickly into the hair.I have also noticed that my scalp is less ichy and its non-greasy nature,it helps to control and spread the excess oil in the scalp.It's been a couple of days and I have notice that my hair is more manageable.
