Break Away – How to Prevent Ethnic Hair Breakage

Want to rock out with long hair, watch metal bands and head bang or perhaps you just want the wind to blow through lovely long tresses. Whatever your purposes, you can have the locks of your dreams by following a daily regime that prevents ethnic hair damage.

As Ethnic hair is more prone to damage, it is best to avoid or minimize chemical treatments and heat. This weakens the molecule
structure even more which leads to severe damage.

Avoid tight braids, glued in extensions and gel. This breaks the hair, making it more difficult to heal and repair your hair.

Most hair products designed for Ethnic hair actually break it rather than help it. If you would like naturally long hair, it is best to use hot oil treatments and products that do not contain alcohols, sulphates or detergents that strip your hair of natural oils.

Should you need to comb out you hair, do so gently and start from the tips of your hair working your way up to the roots. And do not brush your hair when it is wet.

Wash your hair at least once a week. When you do wash your hair make sure that you massage the shampoo into your scalp-gently! When you dry your hair, pat dry it, do not rub it. This only serves to break your hair further.

Treat your hair weekly with an oil treatment that contains jojoba oil. Only treat your ends and avoid your scalp as it will become oily.
