TREATMENT CONDITIONER

What Are They?

Treatment conditioners can be used more regularly then masques or treatments and are great for fairly healthy hair that needs the occasional boost of moisture once in a while.

A treatment conditioner seals the hair cuticle and works to replace lost moisture. They work on the surface of the hair and dont penetrate the internal structure as masques do. We cant stress this enough, conditioning your hair after shampooing is vital for healthy hair, as moisture is often lost in the cleansing process. They also work to detangle the hair. Treatment conditioners can be used more regularly then treatments or masques.

TREATMENTS & MASQUES:

What Are They?

Treatments or masques work to deeply nourish the hair. They do this by working from the inside out and are perfect for strengthening extremely fragile or damaged hair. The difference between a masque and  a treatment conditioner is that a masque will penetrate the hair follicle, boosting moisture levels. As tempting as it is to leave a treatment or masque on for longer than the recommended time on the tub, it really doesnt make any difference to the effectiveness of the product.

TOP TIPS: Thought masques were the last thing to apply in your hair washing routine? Think again, the rule is to shampoo, treat and then condition. This is because conditioners seal the hair cuticle, meaning the masque will not be able to penetrate the hair shaft.

OILS

What Are They?

Hair oils have pretty much reached cult status since there release into the mainstream a few years back. Theres a multitude on the market but the trick is to find one that nourishes the hair without leaving it oily and weighed down! Hair oil is like a serum for your hair, it adds a glossiness plus it protects and nourishes your strands. A good hair oil will contain ingredients like essential fatty acids, vitamin E and an nourishing oil of some sort like the Anatolian Oil found in the Dove Pure Care Dry Oils. If youd like to intensely condition your hair apply the oil onto wet hair and leave it to dry. To add shine to dull, dry hair, rub oil onto the palms of your hands and smooth onto the lengths of your hair.
