Sixty Something Cosmetics And Makeup

aging wellThe reason I called my article(s) sixty-something is because that is exactly what I am; a 66 year old women who happens to be extremely interested in cosmetics and make-up. This site has given me the opportunity to express my personal “relationship”, interest and ultimate positive or negative results when using the beauty products supplied to me. It encompasses beauty treatments as well as make –up. The BeautyBulletin were interested in having me on the panel as they felt that it would be interesting to get the perspective of older women on the various products.

By profession I am a qualified research pharmacist and at present am kept busy doing locums at Medi Clinic Hospitals. I have three children and one gorgeous grand-child, all of whom live in Australia.

After asking various friends of mine, it appears that many women today, independent of age, are still looking for the ultimate, glamorous look that will enhance their looks and finally give them that gorgeous look that we have been trying to achieve for so many years. Well who doesn’t?!

Take mascara for example. How many of us have more than one tube amongst our cosmetics? Isn’t it true that we want the one that lifts and separates the lashes; the one that enriches and elongates by hundreds of percentages and of course, most importantly the one that doesn’t smudge and is totally waterproof? Well, to be honest at this point in time I have about five tubes of mascara in my drawer and I can only assume that some of you or maybe most of you have even more.

MAC products are high on my list of cosmetic favourites. So far I have been using the mascara called MAC X – for me this is my very best. My lashes are really fine and in addition I happen to have one set of eyes lashes ( and an eye brow) that is totally blonde ( from birth) and the other is black in colour, so a mascara for me has to work really well in order to cover my very blonde eye lashes. I must add that dying the lashes works for about a week and then I am back to square one again. The MAC X certainly does the trick and if I spend time in the morning and carefully apply the mascara, it remains looking good for the entire day. The eye lashes look natural and there is no clumping or smudging. The brush is shaped like an elongated cone and works well for me.

Being a Mac fan I was given the MAC ZOOM FAST mascara to try out. I was rather disappointed with this as the mascara appeared to “clump”. It lengthened the lashes but I felt that the resulting look wasn’t nearly as natural as the MAC X.

While travelling overseas, I discovered that I had left my make up purse at home so I rushed into the BODY SHOP to buy a few products. Among the items I bought was their DIVIDE & MULTIPLY mascara. Not only was I pleasantly surprised at the price but in addition the product was pretty good too. I love the plastic, bristle brush that provides an excellent application to the eye lashes without clumping or smudging. Another great choice for fine lashes.

Well that’s all the makeup tips for now. Until next time.
