My original perception was that Restylane was a skin filler solution that one used to smooth away wrinkles and add volume to the face. I had never heard of a Restylane skin booster.
Firstly Restylane is the only company that makes a skin booster. Secondly, a Restylane skin booster, in my eyes is a more subtle and gradual solution to improve your skin than fillers. The skin booster works to improve skin quality by boosting the hydration levels deep inside the skin thus increasing skin smoothness, elasticity and firmness. It quickly and effectively puts back the Hyaluronic Acid (HA) back into the skin in a way that no topical solutions can! It can be used on a young or mature skin in area such as face, neck, décolleté and hands. It’s also especially successful for people wanting to improve acne-scarring or photo-damaged skin.
3 treatments are recommended approximately 4 weeks apart.
First Treatment Review:
Being 44, and an avid exerciser I have experienced definite fat loss and volume on my face, especially the cheek area. Dr Michelle Emett, the consulting aesthetic medical practitioner immediately spotted that area and we agreed on a targeted solution. She first applied a topical anaesthetic. She then used a very fine, but VERY LONG cannula to administer the treatment and inserted it in my cheekbone area (first above the cheekbone, then below the cheekbone) DEEP under the skin. It’s a little uncomfortable at stages as it is a rather unusual feeling but never sore. I felt her gently weave or wave the cannula under my skin releasing the HA solution as the cannula moved/ weaved around my cheek area. It only takes about 10 minutes each side. After she did one side there was an immediate difference in volume on the treated side. It’s easier to see the points of difference after treating one side when comparing it to the untreated side than it is to see the difference once both sides have been treated. This is because the treatment is subtle.
That night I did experience tenderness and I noticed a slight swelling the next day; however it passed quickly (in approx. two days). After which I felt my skin had a glow and felt thicker and healthier, definitely a fresher look which was very natural and subtle. I can’t wait for 4 weeks to pass so I can go for another treatment as I feel these treatments deliver cumulative results, so the results should get better and better. I have also targeted a scar on my lip area which I want to treat!
