The first thing that struck me was the unique, novel packaging. I really love how Avon have challenged the status quo and presented us with a different take on mascara applicators. To be honest, however, I was quite clumsy trying to figure out exactly how to open up the mascara. (It probably would have been wise to read the instruction leaflet prior to testing the product!) You have to apply a fair amount of force to wiggle the unique brush free of the base. The best way I can describe the applicator is like a little paint brush. I was a bit unsure about the applicator at first, but it’s actually really effective in allowing you to brush on the mascara from root to tip – even reaching the finest eye lashes towards your inner eye. Just be careful not to open your eyes too wide when first applying the mascara – as I did, and then marked the top of my eye lids with lovely black streaks from the wet mascara on my lashes! The other thing that I like about the brush is that you can bend the applicator handle to get your preferred angle -although, I found it most comfortable to use with the handle folded out completely straight.

I was quite chuffed about the length of my lashes after application. The mascara isn’t at all clumpy, and coats the lashes really nicely. The other thing I was really happy about is that the mascara is long-wearing. My absolute worst is wearing mascara that leaves black smudges on your upper eyelids during the day. Don’t you hate that? I was thrilled that this doesn’t happen at all with Avon Mega Effects – so thank you Avon!
To be honest, however, I would have liked a bit more volume to accompany the beautiful length the mascara rewards. Then you’d get the full ‘flutterby’ lash effect that is so desired.
All in all, I really did like the new Avon Mega Effects mascara. I would purchase it again – but you definitely need to apply more than one coat to see any ‘mega effects’.
Thanks Avon for some really novel innovation. The fact that the mascara doesn’t clump, smudge or flake during the day, and that it coats lashes for great length is really appealing and a product I can definitely recommend.
