I love these balms! I have a few of them lying around everywhere! My favourite is definitely the BabyLips Electro Range. I love how they Hydrate your Lips and give a bright pop of Colour without being over the top. Perfect for work too!
I love the packaging of the lip balms, it's fun and youthful. As for it's effectiveness, it's good enough for me to keep one in my gym bag, office desk and handbag for the swipes here and there. I wear lipstick most days so I like to dab this on first to add a bit of moisture, and reapply during the day.
I wouldn't say it's the best lip hydration product I've ever used, but it's most certainly something I'm happy to continue purchasing and using.
I bought the blue Baby Lips - I think it's called Hydrate, and has no flavour or colour, just purely for hydtrating your lips.
I have heard so much about these lip balms and thought, being the lip balm addict that I am, that I couldn't not have at least one in my collection.
I've always been a HUGE Labello fan, and this one in particular is very similar to the turquoise Labello (also the moisture and hydration one). However, I don't think that the Baby Lips lived up to the hype, and I found I had to keep on applying it too often to make it something that I'd repurchase. Labello is much better in quality.
I will admit that I totally understand all the fuss about it. All the lip balms are incredibly hydrating and moisturising. My favourites are definitely the tinted balms because I am such a lazy lipstick applier. All the balms have an amazing scent and they taste great too.
These retail for R24.95 at Maybelline stockists around the country. For that price it is no wonder people go crazy for these. The fun packaging is also a winner in my books
I recently picked up a tube of Maybelline baby lips at Dischem, after hearing so many people raving about this product, I just had to get it. I am an absolute lip balm addict. I can not go without lip balm for more than a few hours. Here's the lowdown on Baby Lips:
Price: +- R25 (about the same as Labello,a bit more expensive than Lip Ice)
There is a wide variety of these lip balms, in different shades, but when I got to Dischem they were all sold out except for the Baby Lips Intense Care, which is colourless. I decided to get it, because I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. I have to say, I wasn't blown away. It's a really good product, and I can't find anything wrong with it, but I think after hearing everyone rave about these balms I was expecting more. Honestly, it is very standard. It's almost exactly the same as Labello lip balms, but I actually prefer Labello. With the Baby Lips I have to reapply very often, and I used up my entire tube within less than 3 weeks. It did keep my lips in great condition, so it delivers on it's promise, it's a good Lip Balm, but it's nothing special :) I do want to try the tinted balms though, but as for repurchasing this specific balm, I wouldn't, I would rather just stick with my tried and trusted Labello.
I recently Received Maybelline Baby Lips from Beauty Bulletin and I immediately put my fiancé to task! And of course I was the monitor in charge of his lips for the long weekend! I was happy with the medium consistency of it, as well as the long durability. I too used it for the weekend, but of particular importance was my subject whom has dry lips and this was his chance to part take in the beauty community.
The lip balm lasted throughout our countless, no you take out the trash no you make breakfast Ophrah vs Manchester city conversations, and even a 90 minute long nap I took (due to my loss of the Ophrah vs man city argument) I am pleased to say not once did he wipe off the lip balm, the original has no color to it and no strong scents at all. Whenever he was getting dry he was first to shout babes where’s the baby lips ( lol) we ended up agreeing on keeping it in the living room table drawer. Well now I have to purchase my own as he took the one we were sharing, his only issue with the lip balm is “eish but its written baby lips! And Maybelline” how masculine is that. I guess he will just have to step in the loo to get his baby lips on or do em in the car and hope no one notices.
As for me, I loved the durability as well as the consistency, however i was not pleased with the effectiveness, it just didn't penetrate deep enough, which ended up leaving my lips slightly dry (rubber lips hey)
So I bought myself the Maybelline baby lips to see what the fuss is all about.
These are my thoughts:
Pigmentation:These are not heavily-pigmented lip balms, they are more like traditional tinted lip balms that deliver's a sheer wash of color to your ips. Both Quenched and Peppermint are clear. Grape Vine is a purple-ish wine shade and Cherry Me, the one I was expecting to love the most, is a warm pink that doesn't quite look like the sheer cherry red I was hoping it would be. With the exception of Peach Kiss, which is shimmery/frosty and more on the opaque side, these balms are sheer and do not contain any shimmer.
Texture: These balms glide on the lips pretty effortlessly. The consistency is not heavy, thick or waxy; they are thinner balms that feel slick on the lips yet they do not feel greasy.
Flavor/fragrance: Large array of flavors to choose from to suit any person.
FINAL VERDICT: I don't think they are the most best balms out there but the colors are super funky and it does contain SPF20 which is great for summer. You can have one for every outfit!
