L’oreal De-Maq Expert Elixer Concentrate Ultra Make-up Remover

The Loreal De-Maq Expert Elixer Concentrate Ultra Make-up Remover is a super concentrated formula that removes all makeup, and is especially good at removing long-lasting and waterproof makeup. It comes in a 100ml tube and the formula is gel-like. Only a pea-size is required to remove all your eye makeup so this product will last for a long time. I only got hold of this product because I subscribed to Glamour magazine and got sent four different tubes of makeup remove from the L’oreal De-Maq Expert Range. I will only be talking about this particular product though.

I've been using this makeup remover for about 2 weeks now and I can safely say that this is a great product. I've never used a more effective makeup remover that gets rid of waterproof mascara. I found that i didn't need to rub, it just glided off easily and nothing was left behind.

It does leave behind an oiliness on the skin but I use a great cleanser so getting rid of the residue is no problem and I experienced no breakouts thus far. I love that this is a dual makeup remover that works for both skin and eyes and it doesn't sting or burn my eyes as my eye area is rather sensitive.

I bought this at Clicks for R70.00.

I didn't love this product at all. Firstly it is super oily and has a silicone feel to it. When I wash it off, my face never feels clean. Secondly it leaves a horrible residue on the eyes - not just misty but milky white which I have never experienced using anything else. Thirdly, you do need to wash it off with another cleanser afterwards, but I do that anyway so that is not really a problem for me. The worst thing about it for me is that my skin feels wrecked after this. It goes dry and rough every time I use this. It takes a couple of days and a lot of serum for my skin to recuperate. Because of all these reasons I never reach out for this product even though I have had it for about 2 years now. I would give it pass, if you are looking for a nice cleanser! There are much more gentle options out there that remove makeup just as well!

I must say that I haven’t used a makeup remover as effective as this one. It removes waterproof mascara very easily, and even gets between the lashes and removes eyeliner that has been applied on the upper and lower lashlines. Only a pea size is required to remove makeup on both eyes. I usually rub half of it on the one eye, use a bit of water to transform the gel to a milky consistency, and then use a cotton pad to wipe the product off. Then I do the other eye.

This process may be more time-consuming and messy than other makeup removers, but this makeup remover removes everything and EASILY! No rubbing or scrubbing hard to remove that hard-to-get-off waterproof mascara, and therefore reducing the chances of creating pre-mature wrinkles around the eyes. You definitely have to stand by the basin to use this product unless you have a 24/7 dedicated butler who will clean up after you.

The only disadvantage I can think of is that you have to wash your face with a face wash after because if you just use this product to clean off you makeup without washing your face, your face will feel greasy and oily. This product also makes your eyes a bit blurry after use. I think it’s because the formula gets between your lashes and sometimes a small bit of it may get in your eyes, so I do not recommend this to you if you have sensitive eyes.
