I Heart Makeup

I think it is safe to say that on occasion, us women love makeup more than our other halves. Makeup makes us feel pretty when we feel ugly, it brings out the best in us and it can fix all visual problems. These are only a few of the reasons we love it! There are so many more reasons and this is why I thought that instead of writing an article for your loved one this Valentines Day, I would write an article dedicated to makeup and the art of it! Now that is true love ladies!

Makeup was originally founded by the Egyptians and used for spiritual purposes and it didn’t matter if you were a guy or a girl, you had the right to wear it and even flaunt it! So makeup has been around for centuries and is bound to become a girls best friend as she enters her teenaged years. I bet that if you are reading this, then you most certainly have your own very special makeup bag. My makeup bag consists of my essentials. I can never go without foundation, eyeliner, mascara, lip balm, liquid eyeliner and a brow pencil. Without these minor magic workers, I would look like an entirely different person…one that seriously wouldn’t want to glimpse their reflection in a mirror!

Makeup has its benefits and this is why:
Makeup hides and conceals any flaws that you might have. Imperfections are made less visible and this can be achieved with a concealer or a foundation. Foundation is also great for sun protectant. Most foundations carry SPF in the formula which then acts as your shield against the harsh rays of the sun.

Using decent mascara can open your eyes…literally. If you have dull eyes, mascara works as adding something “special” to your look. If you have lovely eyes, mascara simply enhances your look. If you have short eyelashes, you can create the illusion that you actually have long lashes. This is achieved with this little trick:

Apply your first coat of mascara and continue with the rest of your makeup regime. After approximately a minute, apply your second coat of mascara. After a few minutes, you apply your third coat. Beware though; you don’t want your eyelashes to look clumped. I avoid this by using a plastic bristled mascara brush. I like Maybelline and L’Oreal.

Now as Valentines Day is around the corner, I think it is only fair that we spoil ourselves a tad. After all, January was a hard month! I would recommend treating yourself to a makeup makeover. My recommendation would be to visit your nearest Mac makeup store and book a makeup tutorial. This is great for women who don’t really have the art of makeup down. Mac beauticians teach you how to properly apply makeup as well as which colours you should avoid and use. You can make an appointment with a makeup artist if that suits you better, or if you lucky you can get a walk in opening.

So ladies, why not treat yourself this Valentines Day and purchase a new makeup bag collection? If you are unsure what to use, I can recommend a few brands that I have fallen completely and utterly in love with!
