Hair Tips to Survive a Bad Hair Day

A few hair tips to survive a bad hair day.

So you’ve woken up, you look in the mirror and the reflection you see can only be described as “hot mess”.  We’ve all been there right? Hair in all directions as the blowout ain’t so fresh no more!  Well ladies, survival of the bad hair day is possible! Here are some tricks to counter that bad hair day:

Oily roots
Some of us can’t wash and blow dry our hair every single day. I certainly don’t as my hair is curly and thick, so blow drying is a tedious process followed by flat ironing with a GHD. All in all, this process takes up to an hour, if not more. By day 3, after a blowout the oiliness kicks in and one of the quickest and easiest ways to get fresh hair is to use dry shampoo. There are quite a few available that you can find at Clicks and Dischem all retailing under R100. Batiste Dry Shampoo ranges are some of the most loved. There are variants for us brunettes as these dry shampoos do leave a white tinge, but with a bit of teasing this goes away. It also leaves your hair smelling fantastic.

Cover up
I own an array of head scarves which I use when my hair is between washes. Nothing hides a bad hair day better than a headband, and a pretty one at that to distract the actual disaster hair situation!

Braids
Since the return of the braided look, I’ve been all over it as it really is a quick and easy way to achieve a trendy look without much hassle. The best part is that it works with bad hair! A cute fish tail swept to the side will hide even the scariest of hair and no one will be the wiser.

Create a distraction
With stores like Accessorize and Sass Diva offering a wide array of pretty hair accessorie to suit all face shapes, there’s no excuse to feel embarrassed about your less than perfect tresses again. These divert attention and no one will realize you even have a bad hair day.
