What You Will Need
•Shampoo for Dry Hair
•Conditioner for Dry Hair
•Thick Toothed Comb

Depending on how dry your hair is, you should select a shampoo that suits your hair type. Shampoo and conditioner play a vital role in the maintenance of hair care. I personally like TRESemm hair products or Dove hair produts which you can find at almost any local store.
Your conditioner should be of the same brand as they are designed to work alongside one another. So if possible, try and use a shampoo and conditioner that are partners.

Keep in mind that your hair is dry, so you should opt for a brand that supplies products especially for dry hair.
Once you are in the shower or bath, only use a small amount of shampoo, about the size of a nut or an amount that fits into the palm of your hand. If the shampoo doesn’t create a foamy lather, don’t use more instead wet it a bit more to create a soapy lather. Lather your hair in a downward motion as to not create knots and tangles. After you have rinsed out your shampoo, depending on the length of your hair, use a generous amount. Continue with the rest of your shower or bath regime and avoid the rinse until you are done.

The conditioner should be in your hair for a minimum of two minutes. If you have a thick toothed comb, starting from the bottom, brush in a gentle downward motion. Complete this action until hair is combed out and ready to be rinsed.

During this week it would be best to refrain from using any heat on your hair. So if you can, avoid hair dryers, straightners and curling irons. Towel – dry your hair and create a loose plait to avoid damaging it. A fish tail braid is also acceptable and fashionable, so if you are looking for a quick fix, then opt for the fish tail braid.

As this is day one, no treatment is necessary. This will only be needed in the week! Let’s hold thumbs ladies! By the weekend you will have soft hair that is worth the effort of looking like a space clown for the week! But we all know, we only feel like we look awful with our hair natural, but it doesn’t look half as bad as what you think!
Let’s see what tomorrow will bring you and what hair tip we will be using.

•Hot Oil Treatment

Hair Diary entry two! So Monday’s hair dairy entry was all about learning how to correctly wash and condition hair without further damaging your hair. The next step to restore your tresses back to their vibrant self is to use a hot oil treatment. You can either buy one from your local department store, or you can create your own one at home. Should you choose to buy a hot oil treatment, it is important that you look for one that offers natural ingredients. A good oil treatment which is available at most local supermarkets is coconut oil, and it is easy to find.
Follow the instructions on the bottle, which will tell you whether or not to apply on dry hair, damp hair or towel-dried hair.

If you would like to make your own one, then you will need:
•2 Tablespoons Conditioner
•One Tablespoon Olive Oil

Mix ingredients in cup and heat in microwave for a few seconds. Apply this onto your hair and wrap with either a shower cap or cling wrap. If possible you should try and leave the hot oil treatment in your hair over night, however if you cannot follow these steps:
Apply hot oil treatment on damp or towel – dried hair, starting from root to tips. Keep in mind that if you use a generous amount, your hair may become oily after your first wash. Try applying a moderate amount depending on the length of your hair. Once you have applied the hot oil treatment, you should wrap it with either a shower cap or cling wrap. There after either sit in the sun or heat it mildly with a hair dryer. Leave in your hair for a minimum of 40 minutes. If your hair is extremely dry, you should leave it in for a minimum of an hour if you cannot sleep with it in.

Once your hair has been treated, you should wash out with warm water and shampoo. Remember ladies, your shampoo should be for dry hair. After you wash, apply a small amount of conditioner avoiding the roots of your hair. Leave in for approximately three minutes, comb through and rinse.

As this is a week where we will be treating dry hair, it is important to avoid using hairdryers, curling irons and straightners to style your hair. Preferably keep your hair in a lose braid, bun or fish tail plait.
If possible, you should try and slot a hot oil treatment in once a week to maintain and repair dry and damaged hair. The more regularly you maintain your hot oil treatment, the healthier your hair will be.
Once you have completed this step, you are ready for your next day’s treatment!

But, what are the the pros and cons of hot oil treatments, read about it here.

Wednesday
Hair Diary entry three.  So we are on diary entry three for dry hair. So far you have learned how to shampoo and condition hair properly and apply a hot oil treatment. Today you will be applying shampoo and conditioner as well as a leave in treatment.

banana hair mask

If you have a blender, mix all the ingredients and blend. If you are unable to use a blender, simply mash all the ingredients together.
Wash your hair with shampoo as you were taught on day one – Monday. Towel – dry your hair and gently comb out all the kinks and knots.

Apply mask onto your full head of hair, massaging from your roots to the tips of your hair. When you have completed application, put your hair in a shower cap or on cling wrap. The treatment should stay in your hair for approximately 30 minutes, however, the longer you leave it in the better.
Once you are ready to remove the treatment, simply rinse out and condition your tips while massaging your head with the conditioner.
Again, avoid using a hair dryer or heat to style your hair. Braid and tie loosely!
Now that step three is complete, you are ready to take on Thursday!

Thursday
Hair Diary entry four. Welcome to the fourth entry of our hair dairy regime for dry hair. So today ladies, we will be focusing on a hair egg whitemasks that will repair your dry hair and make it soft and shiny! Now, you can either buy an already put together hair mask. Usually places such as Clicks or Dis-Chem stock the best kinds and they are affordable as they usually contain only one application, which is all you need for this week.  If you prefer to make your own hair mask, then here is an easy DIY recipe that will work wonders and is only needed once a month. This can be applied onto dry or damp hair.

What You Will Need:
• 1 Egg White
• ¼ Cup Mayonnaise
• ¼ Cup Plain Yoghurt

Beat the egg white until you can get it as fluffy as possible, follow by adding the mayonnaise and plain organic yoghurt.  Place thickened mixture and work into your hair. Leave in your hair for approximately 30 minutes.
After your application is complete, rinse off with cold water and tie hair loosely! Don’t worry ladies! It’s only one more day to go before you can actually style your hair and see what this weeks end results are! So once AGAIN, avoid those hairdryers, curling irons and straightners!!!
Let’s see what tomorrow has in store for your dry hair!

Friday
Hair Diary – Last Entry! Finally ladies! We are on the final day of our dry hair treatment routine! After this, you will be able to style your hair and see what a difference just one week of hair treatment can do for you!
In this diary entry, you will be shampooing your hair, then applying conditioner and finally, you will be using what I like to call a “shower” treatment.
hairdryer

What You Will Need:
•Shampoo for Dry Hair
•Conditioner for Dry Hair
•Dove Damage Therapy Daily Treatment Conditioner

Shampoo your hair as per usual, rinse and apply conditioner. Comb through your conditioner with your thick toothed comb and rinse. Strain the water from your hair and then apply your Dove treatment. Massage thoroughly into your scalp and onto your tips. Leave this treatment on for approximately five minutes. After you have finished your shower, comb through once again and then rinse properly.

feel the difference

Towel – dry your hair before taking a hairdryer to it. Make sure you have dried it as much as you can. If you want silky soft hair, it’s wisest to blow dry your hair. If you have a BIG round brush I would recommend using that. Once styled, VIOLA! You can immediately feel the difference! Now was that so hard!
Remember ladies, you only need to do hair regime once a month, however you should try maintain your hot oil treatments once a week, shampoo and conditioner for dry hair and a conditioning treatment on a daily or every second day basis!
Hope this routine works for you as well as it should! Enjoy ladies and say goodbye to dry hair!
