D.I.Y Home Organisers

How many of you lovely ladies look on Pinterest and get all green with envy at the lovely homes they have? I for one do, but being the DIY queen that I am, I have decided to translate some of things I have seen into cheaper, simpler and easier solutions. As well as some tips and tricks to make your dressing room/make up area a haven and not a jumble!

My dressing area is very limited for space, draws/cupboards so when I came across this little find in a Chinese shop I was overjoyed, look at how perfectly it separates my make-up and keeps it all easy accessible, easy to see, find and use all my brushes etc. Apparently this little find is actually used for cutlery – oh well for R20 I love it!

Makeup box 1

The next little find is PVC piping, big or small for limited space you can find many uses, look how awesome it works for your straightener, hairdryer, brushes. It can even be used for shoes if you are really limited for space – which I totally am, I actually bought a Kist for my shoes!

Now if you are anything like me and have a lot of necklaces (did I mention I make these all myself) , then you will realize how tangled they all get if you just throw them in a bag or draw, so this little life-saver was born. I found these beautiful door knobs at Poetry in the Waterfront for only, wait for it… R29! Yes I know I was extremely shocked! The wood was a scrap and because I am in a rented apartment I wasn’t able to drill into the wall but the inside of the cupboard had cup hooks so I attached a string and voila!

razor 3

This little tip is just brilliant, when you are travelling and need to take your razor along but don’t want it to damage anything – use a bulldog clip over it to keep you special things cut free.

Have a problem forgetting dates and always forget to write it in a diary or have about a thousand diaries and never remember which one is for what? Well this is my solution, I bought this frame at a charity shop for R15 and went into a hard ware store and took paint-chip samples (that’s allowed right? ;)) then I pasted these behind the glass onto the cork board and each month it’s easy to erase and start afresh.

This idea is brilliant, I hate cables, plus I have little kitties who love playing with them! So all you need is a box preferably a rectangle one cut circles out and use an eye-lit to secure it, this is optional you can even cover it with lace, material, paper or even cut fancy shapes like a heart or star this obviously depends how good you are with a craft knife?

scarves 6

And now for the scarf obsessed with very little cupboard space, all you need for this beauty is to go into a Chinese shop pick up a shower curtain really doesn’t matter what it looks like because you just need the little hoops/rings then voila.

Hope you learnt some good tips/tricks ladies, till next week enjoy the D.I.Y’ing.
