So, yet again were here…Autumn. Pack away the neon and tribal print and head straight into Regal Nirvana. Garnet, Plum, Red, Grape, Wine and Gold. The Autumn look is bold, feminine and plush.

These shades of colours suit every skin tone and can be used on cheeks, lips and eyes It gives an incredible contrast to any look. The colours are vibrant and eternal. Many major make-up houses already have their signature colour on their fashion-forward radar. From Stila’s range of eyeshadow pigments to Sisley’s hydrating lipstick, heck even mascara has turned prune as seen with Benefit

This mascara at R110 packs an incredible punch! It brings out the vibrancy of any eye colour, but blue and brown eyes really shine with this complimentary hue. To achieve maximum impact, ensure the mascara is painted as close to the lash line as possible. Once applied, use an eye-liner in the same Garnet family shade to line the upper-lid in a cat-eyed flick.

The mascara itself is the same formula of their other mascara range yet I did find it too be much more ‘tacky’ in consistency. It kept on forming blobs on the brush. The colour is vibrant and looks intense on the brush but I needed a good 3 coats and lots of wiggling to get my purple-flicked lashes.

The brush is very disappointing. I’m all for the new silicone bristled applicators that offer less fuss and more impact. The brush is too bristled and messy to use, if you’re accustomed to the convenience of a silicone applicator. This brush is feathery and very fibrous.
The packaging is rich and opulent following in the seasons two hottest colours- plum and gold. It’s a rectangular box with gold sides whilst the front and back are plum with old writing. The mascara tube is set out similarly to the box, with the tube being plum with gold writing whist the lid is gold. The applicator is black in colour as well as the inner step. Even though the brush is dark, the intensity of the plum really shows through. Because of it looking different in colour, I was a tad hesitant to apply and in doing so messed my eyelids, I was happy to find though that this formula wiped off easily with a make-up remover and left no red or purple stain behind.

It’s a great buy to achieve the newest of looks and add some extra pizazz to a mundane look. The look is demure yet very dramatic, contradiction in every wink. My bf didn’t appreciate this bold new look and made me layer on black over, I decided to leave the ends plum which actually gave for a very unique and wistful look. It makes the roots look dense and dark like you’re wearing a tick black liner and the tips are left looking feathery, flirty and light.

It’s a beautiful colour and addition to us Diva’s make-up collection. As your eyes are the ones on show I suggest you keep your face fresh and as natural as possible, a lovely plum hued lippie wouldn’t go a-miss though. Try Topshop’s Lipstick in Beguiled @R119.
