Beauty Resolutions for 2013

It’s a new year and along with that comes resolutions which, if you are like me, only last for about half a minute. So I’ve given up on making unrealistic resolutions and rather going back to basics on things I’ve forgotten along the way.

I’ve put together my list of beauty resolutions as these, I think I and you can maintain all year round without having to feel guilty for not sticking to it.

1. Stick to a skincare range for more than 10 seconds:

I’m really bad at this, if there’s something new and shiny that catches my eye; I try it out then and there. It doesn’t even matter that I have a whole tube of cleanser than I had just bought 2 weeks ago. I love trying out new products( I blame it on the pretty packaging) but much to the detriment of my skin as it doesn’t get a chance to actually see the benefits of the products I’m using. I’m always on the hunt for the next best thing because maybe just maybe it will leave me with amazing skin. A girl can dream right?

2. Stick to a 3 step routine:

I’m quite lazy at times, actually all the time! I often, if not always, bypass beauty step number 2-  toning my skin. My toner lasts for months on end because I simply don’t use it often enough. This is such a bad habit considering when I do tone, I can immediately see and feel the difference. My laziness will be coming to an end this year!

3.Clean make up brushes regularly:

Again, it’s the lazy in me and I don’t do this as often as I should. In a perfect world cleaning makeup brushes should happen once a week but that is way too much maintenance for me so I’m endeavouring to make it a twice a month occurrence.

4. Sun protection:

By far the most important one of the lot; I tend to bypass this on some occasions as my moisturiser has an SPF 25. Considering that 90% of skin damage is directly from the sun a lot more caution should be taken in summer, in fact all year round.

5. Stress less:

I’ll be the first to admit it; I tend to get stressed out for small things. I ride myself pretty hard and I’m my worst critic which ultimately leaves me with clenched fists and a knot in my stomach when I fail at something. This year I’m going to be less anxious and worried about the things that are out of my control and just go with it! Stress affects your health in so many ways and it’s just better to leave it up to the universe and be happy!

Those are my beauty resolutions for 2013 and I’m going to practice what I preach. Good luck beauties!!! J
