SPF - Glossy, colourful and sheer lips

b2ap3_thumbnail_Lip-Service-500x333.jpgThe incredible promotion of SFP lotions and creams has been influential in making more folks aware and safe from the dangers of UV rays. The focus has mostly been on products that protect the face and body but not so much on the lips. I’ve found that most lip balms, lip glosses, and high gloss lipsticks in the beauty stores offer little or no sun protection at all, even though their shiny glimmer can attract the harmful sun ray.

Not all is lost though; Clinique, Elizabeth Arden and few other beauty houses have great lip products geared towards protecting your lips without giving you the chalky lips and compromising your fashion credentials.

Glossy and colourful lips:

Clinique is by far my favourite for colour popping lips. Their High Impact Lip Colour SPF15 at a cost of R230 and their Long Last Glosswear SPF15 going for R215, are a beauty lover’s dream. They provide sun protection, a pop of colour, and glossy lips in a snap.

Sheer lips:

Elizabeth Arden owns the nude lips with their Eight Hour Cream Lip Protectant Stick SPF15 going for R145 and the Eight Hour Cream Nourishing Lip Balm SPF 20 for just R150. Estee Lauder Lip Conditioner SPF15 is a contender at a steeper price tag of R265. The LipSano SPF35 Stick drops the cost of the nude lips to a low of R49.95.

So next time you are on a beauty isle, test one of these lippy protectors because protection is certainly better than cure.
