How to Master Pinup Makeup with Limited Time and Money

For a makeup lover, the saddest thing is that makeup is so damn expensive. After paying all the bills, the rent, the food, we're seldom left with enough to really indulge our passion the way we want. It wouldn't all be so bad if makeup wasn't so fun, if it didn't make us feel so good. But the art that you can create, the feeling you get when you play with colors, the way you can sculpt and transform your face, the way you can perfectly complement any outfit or enhance any feature – all of this is priceless. So, what do you do if you want to look good, but are short both and time and money? Well, either you sell your kidney and buy a bunch of high-end brands, or you read this article to find out how to master the sexy pinup bombshell look without breaking the bank.

Have a good base

The pinup look is sultry and seemingly complicated at first glance, but it's actually quite simple. To start it off, use your favorite primer and foundation. For the primer, there's one unusual, though amazing solution – Nivea aftershave balm for sensitive skin works incredibly well, despite the fact that it's a product for men. It smoothes your skin and gives you a nice base for your foundation, and you get a lot of product for very little money. Maybelline Fit Me foundations are pretty cheap, yet amazing and they give you a nice medium coverage that you can build up. They're best applied with a beauty blender or a makeup sponge. Next, you want to use a blush and apply it to the apples of your cheeks, but there's no real need for either contour or bronzer. This is meant to look a little cleaner and sharper, so eyes and lips should be the focus. You probably have a soft pink toned blush in your collection, and you definitely don't need anything else. The eyes

The eyes are mostly going to be about the winged liner, so you can skip the eyeshadow entirely if you want. If you do want some eyeshadow, keep it natural. Grab a blending brush and put a soft brown color right into your crease to deepen it a bit, and then use a soft pink or beige color all over your lid and to highlight your browbone. Add just a dab of black into the outer corner to give your eyes more dimension and you're done with eyeshadow. Now comes the tricky part – the cat eye. If you're a beginner, most people find that using felt tip liners gives them the most control, but generally you'll get the best results with a gel liner and a synthetic, unyielding angled brush, or an eyeliner brush. NYX has a pretty good gel liner, or you could use Maybelline Master Precise liners instead. The trick to doing the perfect wing? Practice. That's all there is to it. You don't need expensive, gimmicky products, you just need to practice. Make yourself a cup of fresh coffee, sit down, and play some music. Relax. Now's the time to practice your wing, not when you're rushing to get to work in the morning. Enjoy your makeup, have fun. Make it into a soothing ritual instead of a crazy, rushed obligation.

The lips

For a classic look, you want to pick red. Every skin tone has their own perfect red, and you can go with anything from deep burgundy tones, to a bright, coral red. When it comes to lipsticks, drugstore brands have so many amazing options, that there's really no need to turn to high-end brands. Milani liquid lipsticks are great if you want a matte finish, or you could go for NYX lip lingerie in the color Exotic. For something glossier, L'Óreal Infallible Lip Paints work really well.

Don't forget to accessorize

The pinup look is really hard to pull off without the proper accessories. The most appealing thing about this aesthetics is the image of all those curvy ladies with feminine, hourglass figures, so the pinup style is pretty much perfect for all plus-size ladies who aren't sure what to wear to look good. There's just so much sexy plus size clothing that you can find, so if you don't believe in yourself and don't think you're meant to look attractive – think again.

Luckily, a lot of the things you already have in your closet can be used to your advantage. For example, a scarf can be used as a headband to complete a hairstyle, and your faux pearl necklace and a simple halter-neck dress can work in your favor as well. Search online images of the pinup style to get a better understanding of what you might need to get this look.

If you practice this look enough times, you'll be able to do it as fast as you do your standard makeup routine, because there's really nothing overly complicated about it. It's a quick way to look stunning and can be appropriate for both every day and special occasions, and you don't need to buy any expensive products to achieve it.
