I was very excited when I was selected to be part of the Avon Review club as this was my 1st Beauty Bulletin review. I received one lipstick (Pure Orchid) and one lip gloss (Soft Peach) to review. Please find below my lip gloss review.
Avon Ultra Glazewear Absolute Lip gloss 6ml - Soft Peach
When I received the Soft Peach lip gloss, it was wrapped in classy black plastic wrap with the text in white. I was very happy about this as this assured me that the product had not been opened. I really do not like purchasing makeup products that have no protective seal. The tube is clear plastic which makes it easy to see the amount of product left as well as the colour of the product. The lid, a shiny silver cap which adds a glamorous look to the lip gloss, closes perfectly thereby reducing any accidental spillages in purses & handbags. The applicator is a long thin wand with a soft cushion at the end designed to scoop the right amount of product out of the tube.
In the tube, the lip gloss has a soft peachy colour but it applied on my lips as an almost sheer peachy nude. This is great when paired with nude, bronzy or brownish lipsticks & lip liners. The lip gloss has an SPF of 15 and it applies easily on the lips – it really glides on? It has a creamy but slightly thin texture and it was very gentle on my lips, no stinging or burning sensation. It is not sticky or tacky, an unpleasant feeling one gets from most lip glosses on the market. The Soft Peach is very moisturising and it left my lips feeling soft and well-conditioned with a high shine. It is lightly scented with a delicious smell that reminds me of some delectable dessert. The staying power is one to one & half hours before reapplication. Like with all lip products, eating and drinking reduces this staying power.
The Soft Peach lip gloss is so comfortable on the lips making it perfect for everyday use. It was my first time trying Avon lip glosses and I firmly believe I have found a staple in my makeup kit and will most likely try out the other lip gloss shades.
First off I would like to mention that I have never been too keen on lip glosses, I find they usually have a tacky/sticky feel, are poorly pigmented, and last all of 5 minutes on my lips, so I was not expecting miracles with this one.
I love that Avon has gone with a clear container, this makes life so much easier when narrowing down your favourite colours to test. The wand applicator is soft on the lips, easy to manoeuvre and brings out a fair amount of product. It has a pleasant subtle vanilla-ish scent reminding me more of a lip balm.
Right off the bat I adore the colour, soft nude colours are my game and this is no exception. It is neither too pink nor too orange and hands down is one of the most natural looking colours I have ever come across in a lip gloss. With regards to the pigment, I have to give credit where credit is due, it must be exceptionally hard to create a highly pigmented lip gloss and maintain the shine, especially in the lighter colour spectrum and Avon have definitely managed to create one of the most pigmented ones I have come across in this price range. I still feel that I achieve a better pigmented colour look with my lipsticks and stains, hence have taken to wearing this gloss over a couple of my favourite lip stains and have been pairing it with the Avon Ultra Colour Absolute Lipstick in Natural Flush. When paired with either, it shows off the most amazing colour with just the right amount of shine, and when worn on its own, manages to make your lips look naturally flawless.
The staying power is definitely in the upper end of the margin and a round of applause should be given for natural feel on my lips, I usually end up rubbing my lips together in irritation over the stickiness of most and I didn't do that with this one. For ladies with boyfriends who wont go near them when the gloss is applied this is a real winner, I didn't get the usual moan and groan associated with the transfer of a tacky/glue like substance.
I am thrilled with the conditioning ingredients and SPF15 included within the gloss, you are basically getting all the advantages of a lip balm and gloss rolled into one nifty product.
Overall I would definitely recommend the product, especially if you are looking for a gloss that is both high quality and reasonable in price.
Top Tips for Longer Lasting Gloss
1- Ex-foliate First
Smooth lips look best! Use a wash cloth, a soft facial cleansing brush or a gentle ex-foliating facial scrub. At night, apply a moisturising lip treatment before going to bed.
2- Line Before You Shine
To minimize bleeding, line lips with a soft lip pencil in a natural shade that matches your lips. Outline your mouth just inside your natural lip line, then fill in your lips with the same colour.
3- Ace It With a Base
After lining and filling in, top your lips with a wax-based lip balm or an anti-feathering lip base to seal the lip liner and creates a base for the gloss to adhere to. Use a lip brush for best results.
4- Gloss and Go
Start applying lip gloss in the middle of your mouth and blend the lip gloss outward, stopping just short of the edge to prevent bleeding. You can use the wand for convenience, but you’ll get best results when you a apply lip colour with a lip brush.
Just another on the market for buyers to buy. Thumbs up

6 Lip Beauty Benefits:
Regular Price : R109.95
I received Avon’s Ultra Glazewear absolute lip gloss in Soft Peach, firstly I must add that I love lip glosses, even more so than lipsticks. Yet I am very picky as im not one for lip gloss containing glitter specks, and some glosses can be too thick and some too thin. Some don’t last and some do.
I am impressed with Avons lip gloss, the colour Soft peach is a refreshing colour which instantly brightens up ones smile. Upon applying the texture of the gloss felt right, was not too tacky or sticky and applied to the lips evenly with one glide. What won me over the most about this lip gloss is that it was not sticky on the lips and subsided quite well with no bleeding. Has a lovely scent to it, which made me want to smell my lips all day.
Total bonus that it contains SPF 15, it is a must in Durbans climate.
The price of R109.95 I felt was a bit steep and to be honest you do get other brands of lip glosses which match the benefits of Avons but at a cheaper price. But we all know that Avon has their monthly specials and one is bound to catch bargain prices.
