We Dare You To Rock The Facial Embelishment Trend

With our sisters in the Northern Hemisphere in full music festival swing (anyone lucky enough to get to Glastonbury last week?), are you brave enough to channel your inner Coachella-girl and rock the latest runway trend towards all things facial embellishment?

We’ve spotted models strutting their stuff in flickering studs, sequins, glitter and all flavours of 80-style rhinestone bedazzlement recently.

Tommy Hilfiger opted for star spangled temporary tattoos reminiscent of the American flag at New York Fashion Week, while A  replaced freckles with studs and sequins, and Rodarte opted for an edgy androgenous look complete with multiple faux eyebrow piercings.

Think this is all a little too OTT?

You can own the look without looking like you’re celebrating Halloween early this year by a smokey eye with a carefully placed rhinestone or two (simply stick it on with a little eyelash glue), or, add instant sparkle to a night on the town by decorating the inner corners of your eyes with a little loose pigment.

Keen to get the look?

Add these these fab facial embellishment must-haves to your beauty toolkit – and don’t be alarmed if you have to raid your mom’s craft supply cupboard for extra sparkles!

1. Ease into this trend with loose pigment. TRY Inglot AMC Pure Pigment Eyeshadow (R239 at Inglot counters).

2. Double-up nail art stickers as face charms. TRY LCN Nail Charms Set (R105) or LCN Nail Cuticle Tattoos Set (R100 at selected retailers). Read LCN Reviews here.

3. Make it all stick together with lash glue. TRY DUO Adhesive (R310 at MAC Cosmetics counters) or try this budget-friendly Eyelwash Waterproof Adhesive by Ralo Cosmetics R60.

4. Fancy a little DIY? Outline stars (or wichever shape you desire) on a piece of stiff card or paper and cut. Place the card alongside the part of your face or body you wish to decorate and fill in!
