When is sharing of beauty products bad?

Over sharing is not only a cardinal sin committed by black women, but by all women especially in an office and club set up. For some odd reason in the rest rooms we start sharing things we shouldn’t be sharing with strangers in the spirit of sisterhood and I for one feel that the sharing has gone too far, especially when it comes to the contents of my make-up bag.

Sinning in the club:

Pressed Powderpressed powder

Lending your pressed powder to your newly made friend and dance buddy in a club is not an act of kindness. Your powder sponges and brushes are as intimate with your skin as your toothbrush is with your teeth.

Really think about it, this is the sort of sharing that can lead to skin breaks outs for the both of you. If push comes to shove, pass along the powder without the applicators, nicely ask your new girlfriend to use a tissue as an applicator as yours cleanliness cannot be trusted.

lip glossLip Glosses

Lip glosses with applicators have to be the most scary beauty product to share. According to some scientist, the mouth is the dirtiest part of the human body and as biology will have us do, we lick our lips when they get dry. So, no matter how parched your BFF’s lips look, do not share or you may have cold sores in your future.

Mascara

The mascara is another bacteria friendly beauty that can give you an eye infection even without sharing it. So, even on a girl’s weekend away, keep you mascara to yourself and remember to toss it out after six months to avoid eye infections.

nail fileNail Files

Nail file might look inconspicuous when it comes to possible bacteria infected beauty tools. Dangers of contracting nail fungi are real, so even when you go to your beauty salons or nail’s bar make sure the tools used on you are properly sanitised.

Bathroom sins:

Sharing Razors6

Do not fall victim to bathroom sinning also known to me as using your BFF or man’s razor. I know the temptations can be so hard to resist when faced with hairy legs. Bathroom sinning is bad, so bad that it can result into the death of a relationship and a birth of a painful skin infection. My friend was victim of this sin and she went through weeks of discomfort and antibiotics. So when the temptation hits, embrace your cave woman until you can buy your own razor, better yet, commit to an at home waxing session for a longer hairless skin.

Share not, sin not:

We can share a hair brushes if you don’t mind me washing it before and after you use it. I will even share my last bubble gum but I am down right stingy with my make-up. So next time another lady asks you to share some of the above beauty products, be kind, be stingy and keep your bacteria to yourself.
