What is The Best Foundation For Mature Skin

Hands up who has a bathroom vanity full of tubes of foundations that didn’t live up to expectations? I have at least two or three tubes that either make me look too shiny or show off my fine lines to the max.

As we age, it is sometimes a good idea to re-evaluate our base make-up to see if it’s still the right fit for our skin. If it is time for a change, perhaps give a cream-to-powder formulation a try. This type of foundation works well on a mature skin, as it tends to give the skin a velvety texture and helps to disguise wrinkles. You want to hide wrinkles, not show them off! We love Avon’s Ideal Flawless Cream-To-Powder SPF 15. This little compact is so cute and what I love about it, is that it’s easy to do touch-ups if you have to, as it fits into your handbag. This product is also on special for only R99,00 until the 9th of May, so now is the time to buy!

If you have a very dry skin, then go for a moisturising liquid foundation. Ladies with a combination-type skin should stay away from this formula though, as the satin finish can emphasise an oily T-zone. We love love love Clinique’s lightweight Supermoisture Make-up which offers sheer to moderate coverage and gives skin a dewy finish. Great for thirsty, dry skins!

If you are ringing in the changes, take a look at what you need from your foundation. Do you only need some sheer coverage for a barely there look? We like Elizabeth Arden’s Flawless finish Perfectly Nude Make-up SPF 15. You may also want to try a tinted moisturiser. Avon’s Ultimate 7S Day Sheer Tint Moisturiser SPF20 is worth a try. This light-reflective moisturiser is formulated with microscopic colour spheres which burst when they make contact with the skin. Skin has a natural sun-kissed glow.

If you need more coverage then go for something like Estee Lauder’s Futurist Age-Resisting Make-Up SPF15 which offers medium to full coverage with a luminous finish.

Another thing to look for in a foundation is anti-aging ingredients to assist your skincare in waging its war against wrinkles and age-related problems. For this we love Elizabeth Arden’s Intervene Make-Up SPF15, which contains Biodormin that helps target the signs of aging.
