I don’t know why I’m so late on the boat to have tried these out, but now that I have its love.
I always perceived Loreal as a bit of an old ladies brand. But we’re having a bit of an affair at the moment. Don’t get me wrong, I still love and adore my Bourjois Healthy Mix, but theres just something about the Loreal Foundation that is floating my boat at the moment.
The colour range is quite good and is split into warm (W), cool (C) and neutral (N) families then numbered according to skin tone. I got C2 and found it a tad too light for me (which is really saying something for the queen of pale! So I got C3 as well and while this is a touch dark I find I can make it work when its blended out. Also mixing it with a touch of C2 provides a beautiful match.
I have tried applying this with an oval sponge (beauty blender) as well as my Real Techniques buffing brush and I love both finishes. The foundation lasts well throughout the day, feels so light and has a touch of spf in (although not as much as I would like).
My one issue is the packaging. While the little glass bottle is very sophisticated looking and its nice and compact I would really prefer a pump. I always end up pouring too much product onto the back on my hands and I don’t like sticking my fingers on the top for hygiene purposes.
I apply it over the Catrice Prep and Fine Illuminating skin base (subject of another post) – this gives a lovely natural glow. I also set it with the Catrice Multi Colour Powder Compact. A thin layer gives you’re a light to medium coverage which is buildable to a medium to heavy coverage. Just remember to work in thin layers (I usually apply a second layer to my chin and forehead where I have blemishes.
All in all I really enjoy this product. It’s not badly priced – R170 - and I would definitely recommend it.
