Makeup Tips for Lips

makeup tips for lips

The shade of lipstick or gloss you decide to wear should be based on the following…

  • Choose suitable shades for your lips lipstick without the help of a friend. Lipstick and lip gloss colour is a personal choice and expecting someone else to choose it for you is like asking them to decide on your choice of jewellery. It’s really based on your personality. Lip gloss shades usually blend down to a more subtle colour and are therefore easier to choose
  • Dark shades will make your lips look smaller, so if you have small lips go brighter or lighter not darker
  • Enhance fuller lips with lip gloss (if this is the effect that you are going for) Neutral, matte shades help tone down a full mouth
  • Keep an eye on lipstick trends, pearlised lipsticks are dated. Juicy, glossy formulas come and go whilst the matte red lip seems to be a true classic. Heavy lines of lip liner look dated and fake, so blend your lip liner inside your lip line to create a less obvious look.

Choosing the right texture is a matter of trial and error. Matte or moisture? It’s your choice. Either way it generally comes off any way, touch ups are essential.

If your natural lip shade is quite pink, you may not require much colour, whilst those who have pale lips may want to add some colour to the lips to brighten up their face. There are no rules.

Match the shade of lip colour to your hair colour. For example orange red hair suits rusty browns, copper and warm shades. Red hair like brown/burgundy, suits cool shades like plum, pink/brown and cool shades.
