Unfortunately it is impossible to make large pores completely invisible or shrink them for ever. But you can minimize their appearance and make enlarged pores look smaller. Some make-up products and techniques can give wonderful results. So, what do you have to do to achieve a flawless look? The answer is simple: follow the steps below!

1. Cleanse and tone your face skin
Remember that before applying makeup you should always cleanse and tone your face. Use a gentle cleanser to remove all the impurities and excess sebum. Then tone your skin with a toner appropriate for your skin type, but make sure you don’t use too much of it, especially if your skin is oily or combination. Apply it with a cotton pad and wipe until you feel your face is perfectly clean.

2. Use an ice cube or cool water to make enlarged pores look smaller
Apply an ice cube all over your face or splash your face with cool water to shrink and refresh the skin.

3. Apply moisturizer
Apply the right amount of moisturizer. Moisturizer is important when applying makeup, no matter what your skin type is. It works as a barrier to help trap moisture in the skin, it plumbs and comforts the skin and provides a base for a better foundation application.

4. Apply Oil-controlling product
Oil controlling products are good for oily and combination skin types. These products give the skin a long-lasting matte finish, refine and tighten pores. Oil controlling products must be applied to the problem areas only, usually these are the T-zone forehead, nose and chin. Such products reduce shine, absorb the excess oil and make the pores look smaller.

5. Use a pore minimizing product
This product is similar to a foundation and a concealer and tends to conceal open pores without clogging them and resist sweat, excess oil and humidity. Apply it before the foundation to problem areas or over the entire face if you choose not to use a foundation.
6. Apply make-up primer
All women with oily skin are recommended to apply the primer. It helps to keep the make-up longer on the face, hide enlarged pores by providing a perfect base for the makeup application. Besides, the primer controls excess shine, absorbs sebum and fills in enlarged pores creating an ideal even surface. Make-up primer is better to be applied after the moisturizer and before the foundation.

7. Use foundation
There is a great dispute between women who use foundations to hide enlarged pores and those who avoid using foundation to areas where pored are enlarged because they believe it can magnify their look and draw attention to the pores. Actually the foundation can magnify the look of the pores only if it isn’t appropriate for your skin type or applied improperly.
Make sure you understand the difference between powder foundation and a powder. Powder foundation has to be applied on well moisturized skin with a sponge, fingers or a foundation brush. And never ever reapply the foundation without removing it first. This way you will create layers of powdery ingredients which clog the pores and create an uneven surface.
If you use a too heavy foundation it will settle into your open pores and make them look larger. Remember that you should apply just a small amount of the foundation if your pores are large, otherwise you can make them appear even larger and more visible.

8. Apply loose powder
Powder is a special product to correct your makeup during the day. It doesn’t clog pores when you apply it properly and remove your makeup everyday.
Loose powder works best for hiding large pores as it can conceal large pores and provide a good coverage. Besides, it is usually translucent and doesn’t make the shiny areas flaky, as it contains more oil-absorbing ingredients than the compact power does.
