Rimmel Volume Scandal'Eyes Mascara

This mascara has 3x the collagen and keratin for plumper, stronger and healthier sculpted lashes. Comes in a bright orange packaging and the brush is ...massive.

I am aware of the fact that I have the worst lashes ever but there are other - more affordable - brands who offer way better mascaras. I tried this one as it was hyped up all over youtube as being able to work wonders for EVERYONE which was not true in my case.

The product kept getting onto my eyelids, no matter how careful I tried to be. The brush was just too weirdly shaped for my lashes and the product clumped very badly. It flaked after a few hours and I constantly had little bits of mascara in my eyes. I even added eyedrops at some point to thin out/refresh the product but it didn't work.

This product just did NOT do it for me I am afraid and I won't be repurchasing.

This mascara can be purchased at Clicks at R83.95

This mascara comes with a really big brush.

I use this mascara when I really want to apply A LOT of mascara and give my lashes a lot of coating and make them stand out.

You can apply a lot of mascara with this brush or you can comb it through to give it a more natural defined look.

If you're not into the whole clumped up with mascara look, this mascara is most likely not for you, because if your not careful it could get really messy.

Definitely one of my favourites and definitely a mascara worth looking into if you like slapping on a boat load of mascara.

Being a professional make-up artist, I love to try all the new mascaras that come on the market, because – while I have my list of favorites – I’m always on the lookout for new contenders that could be added to (or even possibly replace something on) that list.

And I’m excited to say that the Rimmel Volume Scandal’eyes Mascara definitely made the cut.

I love the bright orange packaging. Its fun and makes it easy to find your mascara in a ‘very busy’ make-up bag – like mine…

The main feature of this mascara is the 50% larger and denser MaxDensity brush. It really is huge and allows you to apply mascara to all of your lashes from the teeniest inner most corner, to the outermost corner in just one sweep.
This is great because it also allows you to slowly build your look – from one coat, which is more than sufficient for a daytime look – to a couple of coats, for an outrageously scandalous night time look – without any clumping.

The actual mascara (liquid) is also great, enriched with a triple collagen & keratin formula. So it goes on smoothly, plus helps to nourish and protect your lashes. But that still doesn’t mean that you should sleep with it on… always remember to take off all your make-up before going to bed ladies. ;)

The staying power of this mascara was also a plus point for me. I am a self proclaimed salsa addict and after a couple of hours on the dance floor, this mascara was still all in place with no unflattering ‘raccoon eyes’ effect.

That said, I do hope that they follow this product up with a waterproof version, as some people still prefer to be safe rather than sorry, especially when it is for a special occasion like a wedding, etc.

The only possible negative to this mascara, is if you do not have a steady hand, the large brush could make it a bit easier to ‘mess’ on the skin around your eyes during application. But this happens to all of us every now and then... big brush or no big brush, so I don’t really count it as too large a negative.

I really loved the colour of the container. Such an eye catching orange that is difficult to miss when shopping. The colour of the actual mascara (001 Black) is a beautiful intense black that will give any lashes a bold look. This mascara also has a fancy “Lock” feature when closing your mascara to ensure your mascara is closed properly and won’t dry out.

I did have problems with the mascara “clumping” on my lashes. I think its because the formula is quite sticky and because the brush is so big, its difficult to brush the clumps out and separate the lashes nicely. If you curl your lashes and fan them out before applying this mascara, it is easier to build your desired look.

I wouldn’t suggest wearing this mascara every day because it is quite temperamental and can take several minutes to get your lashes to look nice. It is, however, perfect for a night out on the town or with a dramatic smokey eye.

Beauty Bulletin sent me the Rimmel Volume Scandal'Eyes Mascara in extreme black to review.
As mentioned above, this mascara has 3x the collagen and keratin. I would love to say more about the ingredients but couldn’t find a list online.

I quite like the bright orange easy to spot packaging and for R89.95, I believe it is well priced.

I love the massive brush as I personally find that big brushes have a much better ‘grip’ of my lashes.

I really had high expectations for this product reading many positive reviews but I am afraid I join the few who were very disappointed after the first application. It’s clumpy. Messy. I wouldn’t buy or recommend.
