I bought this product because my nails are very brittle and weak, and tend to break or peel quite easily (even when my nails are short). This product works like any nail varnish. You apply 1 coat over bare nails, and on the bottle it instructs that for optimal results you would apply the product daily. It also says that it can be used as a base coat. The product itself is a slightly opaque liquid that lightens the natural colour of your nails. As you apply more layers, the more opaque it becomes. I like the opaque look a lot, it looks a bit like you had a light French manicure done.

This product has really help repair my nails as I use to apply acrylic once a month which really damaged my nails. My nails were weak,soft and very brittle. I love this product as it hardenered my nails now and it prevents my nails from breaking and has made it strong.

According to Revlon Nail Care, the calcium gel nail hardener instantly bonds to weak, thin nails to make them 60% thicker for ultimate strength in just 4days. The calcium-enriched formula helps mend cracked, split & peeling nails. Arctic Berry oils and Vitamins C, E & Panthenol contained in the formula help bring nails back to peak condition.
I bought this product for Edgars for R115 because my nails were cracking, splitting and peeling and I was desperate to get them back to peak condition. I applied the gel daily over my bare nails and as a base coat on the days I needed colour on my nails. The gel applied smoothly onto my nails and dried quickly as well. My nails looked really great as long as I applied the gel. However as soon as I stopped using it, my nails seemed to go back to chipping & splitting. Overtime, the gel does get very tacky and difficult to apply.

I felt that this product worked very well in the beginning. The product went on very smoothly and my nails were less prone to breaking. It even worked well as a base coat. Over time however, I found that the calcium gel gets more tacky and harder to apply until eventually it gets hard. So I would recommend using this product within 6 months for best results. When the gel gets tacky, it’s no longer suitable to use as a base coat as it will cause whatever nail varnish you apply next to look streaky and messy. As the product gets older, the tendency to leave “bubbles” also increases.
Another downside to this product is that it tends to chip within 3-4 days and when it does, the exposed nail is in danger of breaking off/chipping again. This product only works when it’s on your nails, it doesn’t actually make your nail itself stronger.
