The lip stain is in the form of a khoki pen, the tip is perfect to outline your lips first before filling them in. The balm is lovely but apply gently as mine broke off when I applied a bit of pressure. Being a lip stain, the colour lasted quite long. It didn't dry out my lips like some lip stains do. I did find that it accentuated my slightly chapped lips so I will only be using it when my lippies are in pristine condition.
