Oxblood

oxblood2As the weather starts to change and we say our last heart rending goodbyes to summer, the one thing we get to look forward to is the new trends that the next season holds. I love winter for its darker richer hues and colour pallets of richness and luxuriousness and what better colour to illustrate this then the inevitable return of oxblood. If like me you spent your teenage years in the nineties then you will be familiar with the colour oxblood and now its back and better then before and it’s gracing runways and the lips of the who’s who everywhere.

The return of the colour oxblood can be spotted from nails to coats, accessories and key items but its boldest look is oxblood lipstick. Oxblood is a dark burgundy shade that screams vixen. Line your lips in an oxblood shade and fill them in with your matte oxblood lipstick. Try steer away from lip glosses to keep the look matte and to help its staying power. Be sure to keep the rest of the face natural by just defining the eyes with simple eye shadow in brown hues and lining your upper lids with a sleek black eye liner. Finish the look with bronzed cheeks and defined brows.

If lipstick is not for you then you can still take part in this wicked trend by wearing this vampy colour on your nails. Revlon nail enamel in vixen is my recommended choice as it has been around for years and is spot on in colour. Be sure to keep your nails short, neat and manicured to achieve the overall best look!
