MICA Cosmetics 19mm clipless curler

Okay, so here’s the deal. I got caught out by one of those sales people at OR Thambo airport. He managed to do my whole head in lovely curls, convinced me to buy a straightener as well as a clipless curler, AND made me late for my flight back to Cape Town. Nonetheless, I am actually REALLY happy I bought the curler. For people that have Cloud Nine or GHD straighteners, don’t bother even testing the MICA Straightener, but I must say, if I had to choose again, I would definitely choose the MICA 19mm Clipless Curler once more! It looks like this: ( http://www.micacosmetics.com/curler-19mm.html ) I can’t even remember what I paid for it, as I was in such a hurry but at least it was worth it. I use it on almost every shoot that I work on. You can achieve really crazy tight curls, loose curls, beachy waves, adding volume and texture to hair, and so much more! I love using it to give updo’s an edge. What’s nice about the fact that there is no clip, is that you don’t get that ugly indentation that most curling tongs leave. It sucks to try and get it out again, or you are constantly trying to blend the dents into the hair to make it less visible. I saw that they are selling these products in Cape Gate now as well, they have people there that show you how to do it. Go have a seat, make them do your whole head, and if you don’t like it, you don’t have to buy it. Plus you score a pamper session for free. Some tips: always curl the hair away from your face; start from the one side of your head and work in smaller sections; spray each few strands with the desired strength/hold hairspray; I also recommend applying a thermal protecting spray or cream before using a curler or straightener. Just one very important note : I have also managed to get a few ugly burns, so when using a clipless curler I advise you to use the glove that usually comes with the product in the box. Wear it on the hand that will be twisting the hair around the curler. Trust me on this one… So here is a lovely example of what I did in under an hour. To achieve this look, I curled 2-3cm pieces at a time, and sprayed it with a medium hold hairspray. I walked around for a bit after I was done, then brushed it out with a wide tooth haircomb. You can also use your fingers. The more you brush your hair, the more the curl should relax. If you want tighter, more defined curls, use a stronger hairspray and only brush it out slightly. So what are you waiting for? Get curling and have fun! www.thecatbox.co.za
