Ahh skin tone adapting blush, lipgloss, foundation, concealer….I want skin tone adapting eyeshadow!

Seriously, though in most cases skin tone adapting anything doesn’t exactly work. The idea is innovative, the concept is way cool for beauty lovers who just want something that will fit them perfectly, and let’s face it our simple side is thinking how cool it would be to buy something that just works the first time, no color matching required, it’ll adapt!

Rimmel Match Perfect Skin Tone Adapting Concealer is the latest crazy to get my attention in the tone adapting world.

Let’s take a look!

A two in one concealer and highlighting with a color adapting technology.

Ok, I’m only going to say this once because I don’t wanna lose my good standing membership in the I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter Color Adapting Beauty Club. Seriously, I’m the first to rant about stupid color adapting cosmetics…so…listen, closely, Rimmel Match Perfect Skin Tone Adapting Concealer actually works. There, said it once.

I dunno how, I dunno why, maybe it was just luck..but the concealer actually does adapt and fits my color perfectly. True story. I tried out both the Light and Light/Medium Shades and both changed color accordingly however the Light proved the best match for me. Light was a little too fair for me but when I put it on my it tones down considerably and goes a tad warmer with a bit of beige and the match, well, it’s perfect. I took a series of swatches so you can see how the color changes every so slightly in each one (Light shown on the left and Light/Medium is shown on the right).

So indeed, for me the technology actually worked! GASP! Wow!

Formula wise the concealer is actually a joy to work with for something that was purchased at the drugstore because hey, I really have bad luck with cheaper concealers. No issues or problems here. The formula is a thinner, creamier base that blends out beautifully and offers just the right amount of coverage to conceal under eye drama while brightening the area up and making my tired eyes look refreshed and awake again. Although I will say pigmentation ranges in the sheer to medium zone so if you have heavier dark circles this might not be your ticket to concealing that particular problem.

I was relieved that the whole “highlighter” two in one deal was something that I didn’t have to worry about. I do worry when concealers promise highlighting action since that normally means they come across shimmery or iridescent, a big no for me, but this had none of those issues. The highlight simply brightened up my eye area sans disco ball shimmer.

I find the packaging annoying. I’d have preferred a click pen or even a sponge applicator. This is a squeeze tube with a brush application attached. I find that I tend to over-squeeze no matter how gentle I am which results in a waste of product overall.

•Anyone looking for a cheap concealer that offers decent coverage with a lightweight formula.
•Those seeking a concealer that brightens as well as concealers problems.
•Those who want a creamy. hydrating concealer with a budget price.
•Those might fall between shades (if you can never quite get your shade right, no worries, this seems to adapt spot on).

•Those who become easily frustrated with poor packaging design (I really don’t love the squeeze tube and I deem it quite messy).
•Those with very dark circles.

What can I say? I loved this. I think the color adapting technology actually worked for me which was a nice surprise plus the fact that the formula is creamy, moisturizing, and long wearing without creasing was an extra benefit. Overall, the concealer performed very well for me so I do recommend picking one up and giving it a whirl. Those with really dark circles will probably be disappointed in the coverage however those with finer lines, some darkness, puffiness, etc…will probably be very happy with the results. I want to Muse Approve this one but I think the packaging is messy and frustrating so that prevents me from giving it a seal but aside from that I love it and would probably purchase again in the future.

Tried it?

Love it?
