This is another one of those must-have brushes that one requires to achieve all types of eye makeup looks. The pencil brush is generally used to apply eyeshadow on the upper or lower lash line. I like using this brush to smoke out eyeshadow or pencil liners when I do smokey eye looks. As I don't have deep-set eyes, I often use my pencil brush instead of a stiff dome shaped brush to outline my outer V instead, and then blend with a different brush. It works really well for that as it gives just the right amount of precision without being as precise as an angle liner brush (if you get what I mean).
This brush is hand-made with goat hair so it is made from the best quality. The long handle is nice because it gives you just the right amount of control. This brush cleans really easily and the bristles don't shed.

In my opinion this brush is one of the 4 must have brushes for eye makeup. It is quite small and is shaped as a small dome. It has a pointy tip like a pencil, hence the name. I never realized it would turn out to be so useful.
Firstly, as all other MAC brushes I have bought, the quality is great. It is one of those investment items that you buy once and they last you for years. The bristles don't shed and clean well with baby shampoo. This particular brush has very stiff hairs which are great for what the brush is meant for.
What do I use this brush for? Firstly, it is great for applying eyeshadow on your lower (and upper) lid. It draws a nice smudged line. It is also great for smudging your eye liner to create a softer and more smokey look. It can also be used to draw a more precise line on your lid - like your outer V or even in the crease. I will however say that it is not suitable for blending at all. After you apply your eye shadow with this one, you will need to use another brush to blend it out.
I really recommend this brush. I have been using it non stop since I bought it. Yes it is expensive but it will last a very long time. No regrets from me for paying the price because it was worth it.
