How to cover up a tattoo using makeup

Meeting the future in-laws or relatives anytime soon? Have an important job interview that you need to look professional for? First things first – what about all those tattoos of yours that need covering up? *Gasp!

Not to fear, we are here to tell you how to cover your tattoo/s easily with makeup in next to no time! Follow these 4 steps:

1) Cleanse your skin. Always cleanse your tattooed area with a little facial wash before you begin. This prepares the skin to receive makeup.

2) Use a heavy concealer. Dab on a thicker concealer ( like NYX Full Coverage Concealer) that matches your skin tone over the tattoo ink as well as the skin around it. Use a makeup sponge or stippling brush (the rough edges diffuse any hard lines) to apply the concealer to the tattoo. Try to dab or blot the concealer onto the skin instead of rubbing it. Rubbing simply pushes the product around rather than adding coverage.

3) Apply foundation. Spray foundation always works best or try the L’Oreal Infallible Brush foundation. They both make the coverage look seamless while adding another layer of camouflage.

4) Dust on a translucent powder or spray with hairspray: Once you have finished layering the makeup, you will need to “set” the coverage in. This will prevent the makeup from rubbing off onto any clothes or furniture. You can either use a translucent powder like the Yadley loose translucent powder which blends very well into the skin and has a lasting effect. You can also try a light spritz of hairspray. Lastly, allow the area to dry completely before touching it or getting dressed.
