Get The Look: Sarah Hyland’s Milkmaid Braid

It may look complicated, but the Milkmaid Braid is one of the easiest summer hairdos. It’s youthful, relaxed and a chic way to keep your hair out of your face on hot summer days. Here’s how to recreate this romantic, goddess-like updo:

  1. Begin with a clean head of hair.
  2. Then, part the hair down the middle.
  3. Mist the hair with a heat protection spray before blow drying it straight. Try Pantene Repair & Protect Heat Defence Gloss Spray.
  4. Once the hair is completely dry, section it into two equal parts, spraying each part with a texturising spray. Work the product into the hair, creating texture with the fingers. Try Marc Anthony Instantly Thick High Volume Styling Spray.
  5. Braid each section beginning at the nape of the neck going all the way down.
  6. Starting one braid at a time, wrap each braid around the top of the head and secure with bobby pins.
  7. To keep your braid from slipping, spray the side that will be against your head with hairspray before pinning it down. Try Avon Advance Techniques Styling Finish it! Hair Spray.
  8. For a softer feel, leave a few stray pieces of hair sticking out.
  9. Finish of the look with a spritz of hairspray to keep the style in and to add shine.
