Get The Look: Kate Beckinsale’s Golden Globes Hairstyle

Different from her usual soft flowing waves, but still as gorgeous as ever, we simply LOVE Kate Beckinsale’s side swept, piecey chignon she showcased at the 2014 Golden Globes. Here’s a breakdown on how to get this edgy style:

  1. Spray a root booster directly on to the roots of clean, damp hair. This will add body and hold to the hair, while making it more pliable and easier to work with. It is also a great way to set the style in. We love Kair Root Lifting Spray.
  2. Next, blow dry the hair with a skeleton vent brush, using your fingers to create texture and additional volume. We love Avon Advanced Techniques Vent Brush.
  3. Once the hair is completely dry, separate the part between both temples and the crown area, and clip the top section away.
  4. Sweep the bottom section into a low, side ponytail and secure with an elastic band at the nape of the neck.
  5. Then, coil and wrap the tail into a messy bun. Tug a few strands out as you go along to create naturally falling bits and to loosen the bun for an edgier look and feel. Secure the style with bobby bins.
  6. Take the hair from the top section and tease the roots with a backcomb brush. This will maximize the volume at the crown and create texture in the hair.
  7. Secure the top section into the loose, messy bun with some bobby bins.
  8. To finish this look off, mist the hair with hairspray for shine and long-lasting hold. We love Toni & Guy Glamour Firm Hold Hairspray.
  9. For added definition, spray some of the hairspray onto your fingertips and work it into the loose strands of the messy bun.
  10. Secure the style with a few more bobby pins, if needed, and you’re red carpet ready!
