If you are new to dying your hair or are dying your hair at home for the first time, these tips will help you better understand what the results of your hair colour will be. Follow these simple steps and you will have a professional salon look by the time you step out of the shower!

Lifting Your Hair Colour
When you colour your hair to achieve a lighter shade, it is known as lifting colour. The most your colour can be lifted by is two base colours. This means that if you have blonde hair which is a base colour of 7 and you use a a shade of 10.0 your end result will be a base colour of 9 which is very blonde. Choosing the right blonde shade is, thus, very important for successful results.

If you are unfamiliar with which shade you are or which shade you wish to achieve, Garnier Hair Dye offers a guide which can be found on the side of the box. This will show you which shade you are and what shade you will become should you use that particular colour. This guide will show you exactly how many shades your hair should change.

Should you be interested in changing your hair colour to an intense shade, or become much lighter, you will need to use Nutrisse Truly Blonde D+ Extreme Lightener. Once you have pre lightened your hair, you can apply your chosen Nutrisse shade.

Some Tips Straight From The Nutrisse Salon

Tip #1
If your hair unleashes that dreaded red tinge, especially if you walk out into the sun, then you should follow this simple tip: Use shades that offer an Ash Reflect such as Nutrisse Ultra Colour shades:

  • 4.15
  • 4.16
  • 10.1

Or Nutrisse Crème Shades:

  • 4.1/2
  • 5.1/2

These shades aid in the prevention of those unwanted red tones.

Tip #2
Inside each Nutrisse Hair Dye box is an information leaflet which guides you through the step by step process of dying your hair.

Tip #3
Use an old towel to cover your shoulders and a clip to clip your hair up once its dyed. This protects your clothing from getting stained.

Tip #4
Use a timer and follow the steps. It is important that the dye remains in your hair for the recommended time period. This allows the colour to “take”to your hair.

Tip #5
Apply Vaseline on the skin around your hairline as the dye can also stain the skin. Vaseline is easy to wipe off and doesn’t allow the dye to stain where it protects.

Tip #6
The Nutrisse “nourishing” after conditioner contains Avocado, Olive and Shea which helps seal and lock in colour!
Additional Note: Women who have Jet Black hair will find it difficult to achieve results when opting for a new hair colour. An example would
be that if you added another colour to black the end result would still be black. If however, you have dark brown hair, a reflect colour is still possible. For example, if you are seeking a shine or shimmer, Shade 2.6 which is Dark Cherry is available!
