I am loving the Freeman products, so when I went shopping the other day I decided to treat myself to a new Freeman mask. I adore the quality and especially the smell of these products, they are delicious! This enzyme mask is no different. It smells like a yummy piña colada. The scent isn't as 'strong' as some of their other products, but rather a nice subtle pineapple smell.
This is an AHA mask (Alpha Hydroxy Acids). Alpha hydroxy works by exfoliating the skin; that is, causing the surface skin cells to slough off, revealing newer, less damaged skin cells beneath. This is something that is usually done at a dermatologist using a high concentration, it's referred to as a chemical peel. This facial mask uses a lower concentration and over a longer period of time has a similar effect.
This mask is a clear gel with a gritty texture. It applies to the skin like a cooling gel and absorbs into your skin. It takes about 10-15 minutes before you feel it has dried. It's very different to a clay/mud mask as you don't experience a tight drying feeling and you don't feel this mask on your face. It has a cooling/tingling feeling, but nothing unpleasant.
Once the mask has 'dried' you wash it off and rub slightly so you also exfoliate your skin. To be honest the first time I used this I didn't feel much happening when I washed it off but the second time I used it it felt different, almost like dry skin was coming off when I was rinsing my face. Regardless, both times my face felt smooth, clean and soft afterwards. I have used this about 5 times and each time I notice an extra radiance to my skin. With repeated use this should only get better. I use it at night before bedtime and when I wake up in the morning my skin looks so youthful and plump. I love it.
I have sensitive skin and this didn't cause any irritation, redness or breakouts. I would definitely recommend this mask as it is extremely affordable for the size and for the ingredients.
