Eyewear and Skin Care

Find out what sunglasses will suit your face by reading these few beauty tips.

The eye area has been and still is the redheaded stepchild of the face, making it the first facial area to show signs of ageing. And out of all the skin that covers our body the skin surrounding the eye area is the thinnest thus most vulnerable. So, on top of the SPF creams and cool sunhats, sunglasses are a third must-have in protection against sun damage.

Pros:

There are many wonderful reasons why we need to wear sunglasses.  These are of the reasons.
UVA and UVB protection – We shall never be caught squinting and the dreaded crow’s feet shall find us when we are old and retired in Seychelles.
•Poise & Protection – Our eyes get to adapt quicker from the indoor light levels to the bright sunlight, saving us from any missteps and ankle sprains that can result from stumbling in killer high heels.
•Fashion satisfaction – I personally believe that I look piping hot and mysterious in my timeless Jackie O shades. Cherry on top, they suit my oval face to perfection. Find your suitable pair and let’s be vain together.
•Arg, nie my hare – Yes, you’ll keep on having bad hair day drama and you’ll be grateful for it. Cancer of the skin and eyelids is the most common thus prevention is certainly better than cure.

Cons:
No good deed ever goes unpunished, so let’s run through the gauntlet.
•Sunglasses and spectacles may put pressure on your nose. This pressure can lead to your makeup and sunscreen being pushed down into your pores, clogging them.
•Some eyewear frames may irritate the muscles and nerves along the nose resulting in a bout of sneezing and itchy eyes to those folks with acute sinus condition.
•Frames over time accumulate a build-up of make-up, dirt and bacteria from your face and just about any surface area they come in contact with including your hands. If not cleaned properly all that build-up will be transferred to your skin resulting in a blackheads and pimples fest.

Skin saving tips:
•If you have sensitive skin go for frames that have nose pads like aviator sunglasses so undue pressure is exerted on your nose or cheeks. Regularly clean your eyewear frames with luke-warm water and antibacterial soap, antibacterial wipes or make-up remover wipes.
•Always put your glasses in their pouches before putting them on any surface area. Avoid putting them on top of your head; unabsorbed hair products may coat not only the lenses but the frames as well.
Use day and night eye creams to further protect the skin around your eyes.

Choose eyewear that compliments the shape of your face and as well as your features. Fashionista or not, know this – the future is too bright to be without your sunnies on and just to keep the paparazzi at bay, please do not wear them indoors or at night.
