The Coats Caviar Manicure set contains a paint pot shade(which is just a white nail polish) and the Caviar pearls, it also has a mini funnel and tray to help you when doing your nails. Basically you have to apply two coats of the white nail polish, then while it's still wet you have to sprinkle the caviar pearls over it. To help you do this, you have to place your hand over the tray and sprinkle the caviar pearls over the nails, then gently press on them to help them stick to your nails. Once your done, you use the funnel to throw the excess pearls which fell into the tray, back into the bottle.
I once applied top coat onto my nails, because I taught the pearls we're going to fall off, but instead I ruined my manicure. You should apply top coat to it, as the Caviar Manicure looks lovely with the pearls. I love this set and will definitely by it again.
