Celeb-Inspired Halloween Makeup Ideas

Not up for dressing up this Halloween, but still want to be part of the fun and excitement? Makeup is the answer! And, who better to get some makeup inspiration from than our beloved celebs? Here’s a breakdown of some the best celebrity-inspired makeup ideas we think are worth wearing this Halloween:

Katy Perry
Katy Perry’s look is all about an exaggerated, candy-coated version of old-Hollywood glamour. To get this look, apply a bright pink eye shadow on the eyelid with a light brown eye shadow in the crease. Then grab liquid liner and start lining thinly at the inner corner, fattening it up as you go out and make a dramatic point toward the end of the eyebrow. Add a vanilla colour shadow or concealer on the brow bone to highlight it. Then fill in the brows with a brown eyebrow pencil in a classic arched shape. Use shimmer on your cheek bones and finish off with a bold cherry lip.

Ke$ha
Ke$ha is famous for her grungy, crazy, out-there makeup looks. To get her look, you will need metallic eye shadow shades and metallic eye pencils. If you really want to go all out, make a turn at the art supply store and pick up some gold or silver metal sheets that can safely transfer onto your skin. You can get creative here and create any shapes you want and apply it wherever you want. But, before you do that, first bronze your skin. Then reach for black eyeliner and smudge it on to achieve a slept-in look. Then apply the transferrable metal to your face as you wish. Finish off your look with a plum-tinted stain on your lips.

Lady Gaga
Lady Gaga’s look is all in the lips, the nouveau-geisha lips in particular. To get this look, start by applying a concealer you’d normally use on your skin and coat the entire lip. Then cover it with powder. With your lips closed, use a black eyeliner pencil to draw on the heart shape in the middle of your top lip and the rounded shape on your bottom lip. Make sure that the ends meet. Then fill in the outline with the eyeliner pencil. Top it off with a small dab of a waxy lip balm. Finally, dab powder on top to set the look. Keep the rest of your face simple. If you’re not feeling the black colour, you can always use a different colour liner.

Dita Von Teese
Dita Von Teese always stands out for her classic, porcelain skin. To achieve this look, go for full-coverage matte foundation. Then layer your face with a porcelain loose powder for a really vintage look. Apply a pin up-esque pink blush on the cheeks. On the eyes, apply a pale blue eye shadow right up to the brow bone. Then generously apply a few coats of mascara on the top lashes and a small amount on the bottom lashes. Fill in the brow to a classic old-Hollywood shape. Then add a mole on top of the cheek bone with liquid liner. To contrast with your porcelain skin, use an intense matte ruby red lipstick to finish off your look.

Taylor Momsen
Taylor Momsen is well-known for her dark and mysterious makeup look. Get this look by lining your eyes with thick black eyeliner. Then take a fluffy eye shadow brush and fill in a thick round line on the top and bottom lids. Make the centre of the eyes darkest and graduate the line out, so it’s cloudier at the ends. When you’re done, use a face wipe to wipe off any excess that has fallen on your face. Then apply concealer and foundation. With this makeup look, it’s key to apply your eye shadow before you do anything else, so that you can clean the fall-off from your face before it ruins the rest of your look. It’s also best to use long-lasting eye shadows and waterproof mascara.
