Body Shop Honey Bronze Shimmering Dry Oil Skin Product

Mmmmm…now who doesn’t love a bit of honey ?

I was delighted to receive the Body Shop’s new Honey Bronze Shimmering Dry Oil to try, since lusting after it in my previous article on bronzing in July. Happily, the BB girls obliged and I went off clutching it in my eager little paws.

What a DELIGHT…

This lightweight body oil gives skin an even bronzed look with a hint of shimmer, and a smell of utter deliciousness…honey, of course, but also something floral – lilies perhaps ? Or frangipani… Regardless of the flower, no sane bee would have passed me up !

Having recently returned from hot, sexy Barcelona, the Cape winter, although looking more summery than wintery in recent weeks, did have me yearning for those sun-splashed days…

Cue my Honey Bronze Dry Oil. Its gloriously-scented oil moisturised and gave a subtle sheen to my skin while the golden shimmer particles enhanced my tan.

The good folk at the Body Shop recommend that you apply in circular motions and wash your hands afterwards. I just rubbed the remaining shimmer into my hands using my hand cream – didn’t want to lose any of my sparkle !

They also recommend that you avoid contact with fabrics, and I would certainly suggest that you allow yourself a few minutes for the oil to melt into your skin before dressing. That said, I didn’t find it greasy, so it’s safe to wear under your clothes (except perhaps very fine fabrics like silk, which might be affected by oils of any kind).

I also tried the Bronzing Gel for Face – really fab ! Semi-matte and with a believable sheer wash of colour, it can substitute for foundation, or be used mixed with your regular makeup to give you a bit of a sun-kiss.

Part of why I love the Body Shop is their commitment to fair trade and to using natural ingredients, so fellow tree-huggers will be happy to know that The Body Shop’s Community Fair Trade honey is supplied by Bezamar in South Oromia state, Ethiopia. The beekeepers employ traditional methods, using hives handcrafted from locally grown bamboo, which promotes strong, healthy bees and deters logging. Good to know…

If you want to look and smell good enough to eat, get yourself off to a Body Shop near you – the Honey Bronze range launched in stores this week. Grab yourself some before the other honeys get it all !
