Autumn Hairstyle Tips

We try our hardest in summer to take care of our hair and protect it against the harmful effects of the suns rays, dry weather and salty water. It isn’t the easiest to maintain the ideal condition of our hair all summer long.

In Autumn many of us start noticing weakness, brittleness and hair loss. It is therefor essential that one continues to care for their hair in Autumn as well.

We have a few recommendations to keep your hair healthy throughout Autumn.

Because of harmful influence of ultraviolet rays, frequent washing and contact with sea water, hair drops out more rapidly at the beginning of autumn than in any other time.

The first step is to trim off your split ends. This makes a surprisingly big difference.
It is then very important to moisturize your hair as it will have lost moisture during summer effecting its resilience, elasticity and shine.

Dont use a hot oil as it will not help and will only leave your hair lank, oily or even drying as you will need to use more shampoo to remove the oil. Use a deep conditioner on your hair. This should be left on your hair for 15 minutes prior to shampooing out.

The Hair Doctor, Philip Kingsley suggest using the home made mask below to remoisturize your hair.

60g of soft margarine
30g of butter
90g of single cream
90g of heavy conditioner

Whisk in a blender and apply the mixture to the hair in sections, working in well with the fingers. Leave on for 15 minutes under a warm, damp towel or even overnight under a shower and towel. Rinse thoroughly and follow with your regular shampooing programme. A few of these treatments at frequent intervals will make quite a difference to the condition of you hair. When you are happier about your Autumn look, an occasional application, say every two to three weeks will maintain it. Look for moisturizing stylers and protectors too.

In autumn our skin tone becomes lighter. It is then a good idea to think about changing your hair colour. Many stylists will advise to choose a hair shade that emphasis’s your eye colour and offers great hair care protection.
