Model Moment With Runway Queen Jessica Hull

Estate agent by day, runway model by night, Jessica Hull has been gracing the catwalks of South African since the tender age of 15! This Cape Town beauty, who has walked for the biggest names in the South African Fashion Industry, shared a couple of her runway secrets with the BB Team:

1. Your favourite runway show to date?

The Mercedes Bens Fashion Week South Africa (MBFWSA) shows are my favourite. I’ve been walking in these shows since I was 15. Some of my highlights have been being involved in the Lalesso, Lazuli, Lo, Kluk and Gavin Rajah shows.

2. The three most essential products in your daily beauty regime?

I don’t always have perfect skin so I have developed a routine using the African Extracts Rooibos range. I use these products:

1. African Extracts Refreshing Toner (R44.95 for 250ml, Available at leading pharmacies)

2. African Extracts 3-IN-1 wash, scrub and mask is great as a mask once a week or after a long day shooting (R42.99 for 150ml, Available at leading pharmacies)

3. African Extracts Dual Action Moisturiser (R44.95 for 150ml, Available at leading pharmacies)

3. What is your secret to staying bikini-ready all year long?

It’s not always easy but I try to mix it up a bit by doing Virgin Active’s Kick, Killer Abs, Shape and Powerplate classes. I love walking and have also started running. I’ll also be starting the Kayla Itsines Bikini Body Guide soon – an Australian personals trainers High Intensity Interval Training Guide (HIIT), available https://www.kaylaitsines.com.au/guides/

4. Which beauty product is always in your handbag?

Lipsano Lip Balm (R41.95, DisChem).

5. Beauty tips you’ve picked up backstage?

Moisturise, moisturise, moisturise!

I’ve learned that your skin needs to be fully hydrated before you start applying all that makeup.

6. How do you keep your tresses in tip-top condition?

Having highlights means having to take extra care of my hair. I use Pantene Smooth and Shine Salon Silk Shampoo and Conditioner (R39.95 for each, Available at leading pharmacies), and Moroccan Oil Restorative Hair Mask (R445, Available at leading pharmacies) a few times a week.

7. Your beauty icons?

Candice Swanepoel and Blake Lively for their beauty both on and off the camera.

8. How do you maintain healthy hair and skin especially during busy periods like fashion week?

I try to drink as much water as possible, but it also comes down to maintaining that daily regime of toner, face wash and moisturiser.

9. What is your secret indulgence?

Doughnuts. Thanks goodness Krispy Kreme isn’t in South Africa – I had to have some serious self-control when I was in London last week!

10. You’re stuck on an imaginary desert island with just one makeup product. What would it be?

It would have to be a coconut tanning oil!

11. What’s your antidote to ‘ugly days’?

A good walk along the promenade; a facemask, and a swipe of mascara!
