Age-Defying Foods

So we can’t all splash out on the greatest and latest anti-wrinkle treatments, so here are some foods that can treat anti-aging from the inside and keep us looking our best!

Ginger

Add a dash of ginger to your salad or Asian meal. It has fabulous anti-inflammatory properties so it is excellent for the skin and our health.

Oysters

Oysters aren’t just an aphrodisiac! They are high in the mineral zinc, which assists in skin renewal and repair.

Coffee

Coffee actually may assist in protecting your from skin cancer! One more reason not to feel guilty about that much-needed cuppa in the morning.papaya

Papaya

This fruit is packed with Vitamin C, carotene and flavonoids. Vitamin C wards off wrinkles and dryness related to aging.

 

Flavanoids promote healthy blood vessels so you will have a gorgeous glow. Start booking that tropical holiday for your skin’s sake!

Wine

More good news ladies, especially if you cannot wait for wine o’clock! Red wine contains an ingredient called resveratrol that actually activates the gene that slows down cellular aging and also protects against heart disease and diabetes. Whooohooo! Of course, they do mean in moderation! Too much wine is also not good for you.

Contrary to popular belief, chocolate is great for your skin!

There is actually no connection between chocolate and acne. Cocoa actually contains ingredients that improve the texture of your skin by boosting blood flow.

Tuna, salmon and sardines

These little fishies are all high in Omega 3 fats, which as we all know are very healthy. What I didn’t know is that Omega 3s help to preserve collagen so skin stays firmer and wrinkle-free. They also reduce the inflammatory compounds which promote tumour growth, so skin cancer is prevented.

Tomatoes contain lycopene which keeps skin smooth. Lycopene also helps to protect our skin from the sun’s harmful rays.

So ladies, there are some surprising and some not so surprising goodies, which you can nom-nom and know you are eating your way to a younger looking skin.
