Summer’s on the way, and it’s time to have a look at your man’s grooming routine – because he probably won’t!
The day I realised that The Gorgeous Husband is totally comfortable shaving with a disposable razor and the shower soap, I gave a sharp yelp, and immediately suggested to him that he needed some decent products !
He’s been trying out some of the newest man-potions, and here’s his verdict.
Gillette Series After The Shave Moisturiser helps rehydrate the skin after shaving, leaving it feeling smooth and comfortable. The non-greasy, quickly absorbed formula contains lightweight conditioners and emollients to help restore skin’s moisture barrier and reduce tightness after shaving. The GH found the texture good, and his skin felt good all day, but he found the smell quite strong, and although it complements the Shave Gel, it did fight a bit with his Hugo… Recommended for men who aren’t going to use any other fragrance at the same time.
The new Wella SP Just Men range addresses guys’ hair concerns with specific products aimed at their needs. Sleek grey packaging looked masculine to me, but the GH said that he’ stopped reading the text before he got to the Just Men bit… I guess you might have to buy this for them !
The Hair & Body Shampoo is a vitalizing shampoo that gives hair additional strength and suppleness, and provides allover care, cleansing from head to toe. It works to increase moisture and resistance in the hair, and performs well as a shower gel too – handy for the gym. This product is suitable for daily use on all hair types.
Just Men Ultra Gel is ideal for expressive shaping and the wet look effect. This firm-hold gel makes his hair easy to style and will leave it sensationally shiny.
And his favourite… amazing, controlled, durable hair styling power with Just Men Shape Creator. It’s a styling cream that provides individual shine and texture to any hairstyle. Shape Creator has highly developed anti-ageing technology with vitamin E and UV protection. This styling cream has a waxy, but not heavy, consistency, so he can effortlessly distribute it into his palms, making it easier to work through his hair, and refresh his style any time.
Being a surfer and all-round athlete, the GH’s skin takes a beating, especially in summer, so he was delighted to try out the revamped Clarins Men Super Moisture Balm. Benefitting from the most advanced hydration technology, it is a must for men after shaving.
The intensely soothing, non-oily texture of the balm is best for normal to dry skin, working to calm the complexion and energise the skin. Extract of Bison Grass revives the skin’s texture and skin tone, and moisturising Sunflower Auxin soothes and firms. He has a small arsenal at his disposal now, but it doesn’t stop him reaching for my girlie razor in the shower to shave ! Not to mention the shower soap… I suppose I should be happy he’s out of my stash !
